Steve Walker nails the government’s disability lies.
If anyone tells you that Grant Shapps is saying scroungers are dropping ESA claims because they would be assessed for their level of disability, just point them to this article, which uses the Department for Work and Pensions’ own figures to prove that an increased caseload of work capability assessments has caused the number of abandoned cases to drop. That’s right – DROP.
MORE people are having their cases approved under the new, stricter regime.
The number of abandoned cases is down to natural wastage – ESA is not a benefit for life and people stop claiming when they get better, or find work they can do despite still being ill.

Well nothing new in this then.
All the information published by the government has been biased or misrepresented. Number of unemployed, number of available jobs, amount spent on unemployment benefit, amount spent bailing out the banks etc. etc.
The problem is the media (probably in return for non regulation ) have published and headlined the lies told. As far as I can see none have given DWP or IDS a good grilling on any of the reforms or the figures given.
Don’t forget the reason given for all this reform was to combat LONG TERM unemployment instead, along with the unemployed, part time workers and low paid workers have been tarred as scroungers and skivers being too lazy or thick to “upskill” to improve their wages and or hours.
Now I don’t remember anyone so far sticking up for this group of “working” people.
