Write to your MP, MEP, prospective MEP, write to the Queen

Last Updated: January 29, 2014By

Beastrabban is slightly inaccurate in his account of events on my blog, Vox Political. I am told (by the DWP) that readers of my blog just copied and pasted my FoI request and then sent it as their own – but I have yet to see the proof of that.
The point I would make is that readers need to take the spirit of the letter, together with the factual evidence it contains, and write their own version, based around it. There should be no implication that it is a lookalike or identical piece.

Mike, I am keen to try and establish a dialogue with MEPs on this subject. It is really hard to try and co-ordinate a national response!! The people who have already written to their MEPs have let me know which ones and have sent me copies of their replies (so far only one Labour, one Tory, but it’s early days). Tonight I’m going to post a full list of MEPs and say which ones have already been contacted. If anyone lives in the areas not yet covered then please send the letter. It isn’t massive numbers required so much as getting a policy response from them, although if there is a group in one area who want to send the letter from ‘we, the undersigned’ and add lots of signatures that would be great!

Both responses received to date are clearly from Party HQ as you would expect on such an important issue. However the idea is to produce a follow up that people can send challenging the ideas in their response. If we can sow any seeds of doubt or get even a few to start wavering from the political consensus that would be a good thing. I shall write the reply as soon as possible to keep the momentum going. The responses received already have been posted on my blog.

Thank you very much for the reblog. I really admire the work you’ve done.

Hi Mike, sorry to get some of the facts about your FOI request wrong, and best of luck with any further requests.

I’m just waiting for the tribunal to get back to me with the date of my appeal hearing. The evidence is conclusive (I think) and it’s just a matter of getting it across in the best way possible.
