Charities reject government workfare scheme

Last Updated: May 5, 2014By

Creating real jobs is against Cameron and Clegg’s ideology, Tom – they need workfare to provide cheap slave labour for their corporate chums, as I’m sure you know – and they don’t mind making other hardworking (their word) taxpayers stump up for it!

It isn’t hard to see at all where the forced labour places will come from. I can write the announcement now: “Due to the voluntary sector being unable to provide sufficient places for us to help long-term jobseekers develop their in-work skills we have secured the help of the private sector in making enough places available for us to continue to support people back into the workplace. We therefore announce that [insert alphabet corporation here. (To be determined according to which one has the least pressing serious fraud investigation ongoing and recent donations to tory party funds)] have agreed a contract written by themselves to provide work placements at a cost to the taxpayer of [insert impossibly large figure dictated by private corporation] We are sure this will afford good value to the hardworking taxpayer as well as delivering on the government’s commitment to making work pay by forcing … sorry … enabling people to work for nothing.”

Unfortunately, I think you’re going to be right. And it will be introduced with great fan-fare as a public-private partnership. The firm’s boss will by the next media-friendly employment-tsar, or something similar, and will appear in publicity photos for the government like Alan Sugar and Richard Branson.

Like I said on your brother’s blog, haven’t the coalition ever thought about the lyrics to “Rule Britannia”

When Britain fi-i-irst, at heaven’s command,
Aro-o-o-o-ose from out the a-a-a-zure main,
Arose, arose from out the azure main,
This was the charter, the charter of the land,
And guardian a-a-angels sang this strain:

    Rule Britannia!
    Britannia rule the waves
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

    Kind of Ironic?!!!

Unfortunately that Christian bunch @ the Sally Army are still happy to take Camorons slave labour in their shops. About as Christian as Dave….
