WHO declares international crisis as experts reveal Ebola can affect white people too

Last Updated: August 8, 2014By Tags:

Tom Pride exclusively reveals on his blog today that, following an emergency meeting in Geneva, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared an international public health emergency after experts revealed the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa can also be caught by white people.

It comes as the United States considered the ethics of continuing to ignore the crisis despite recent evidence that white people can catch the disease and are just as capable of dying from it as black people.

The State Department has also repeated an earlier instruction from American health authorities, warning US citizens to avoid travelling to countries that contain large numbers of black people – such as Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Jamaica and some parts of Detroit.

However, health experts have questioned the State Department advice as an overreaction, saying Jamaica is not actually in the region of Africa affected by the deadly disease.

And some international experts on infectious diseases have even gone further, saying Jamaica isn’t in Africa at all.

In response, a spokesperson for the State Department said:

“Jamaica isn’t in Africa? Are you sure?”

not sure about my geography but isn’t Jamaica an island? if so, even if classed as part of Africa, it will be pretty isolated unless people are continually going to and from the place….there lies the danger of contamination from Jamaica….common sense to me means, shut down all flights/boats going TO the island. if essential services like food/mail etc cant be stopped for economic reasons then some sort of disinfection (no i dont know what) or investigation to make sure Ebola isnt taken in. … i know thats not what people want to hear. and it makes it difficult for businesses as well as the rest of those living there. but its a fact of life when these things threaten.and if proper procedures were put in place straight away the effects would be limited. surely?

It’s marked satire – not meant to be taken seriously; poking ridicule at the subjects.

Mike, sorry but I burst out laughing when I saw the bit about “can effect white people.” What kind of fools think a virus is going to do the following: Commander in Cheif Virus to new recruits : Alright you horrible lot. Remember when you see a Black Person feel free to infect them. Understand, you cannot infect a White Person – its against Orders!!! Right here comes a black little old lady, first squad, charge….”

Yes… You did see that the post was marked as ‘satire’, didn’t you?

Disease holds no prejudices, white or black, rich or poor, or whatever religion you follow, why is when disease breaks out somewhere remote in communities that don’t have much money or resources, people just carry on and let it go on, it only becomes a problem when it spreads right around the world. When it is a threat to the countries who have rich people living in them.

That is, of course, the point of the article. Tom had correctly deduced that hardly anybody in the rich West was going to do anything about this because it was (almost entirely) affecting people of another race – who don’t have much cash.
