BBC manipulation of the Scotland debate continues – have they no shame?

Following on from yesterday’s article on Nick Robinson and the heads of BBC News, take a look at this; it appeared on Twitter earlier today:

You can complain to the BBC in several ways:

Ofcom is the TV regulator. Its website says you should make complaints about bias to the BBC Trust – which seems odd. Why would a biased BBC Trust do anything about such complaints? So here’s the link to Ofcom’s complaint form: https://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/specific-programme-epg

Complaints to the BBC Trust merely go through the ordinary BBC complaints addresses/numbers.

You should also write to your MP. All things considered – apart from holding mass demonstrations outside BBC offices, it might be the only way to get your complaint heard.

Additional: VP has been contacted by a commenter, pointing out that the Big Debate took place last Thursday (September 11) – the same day Robinson manipulated his report. While it is true that there was no date on the tweet or the meme that appeared with it today, so it was impossible for Yr Obdt Srvt to have known this, it makes no material difference to the article as it is still an example of the BBC’s shameless manipulation of the debate.

Although you’re correct to be a little concerned, if you calmed down a second you would see why they were doing this. If the BBC go to air with the opinions of all Yes voters and don’t provide balance, they will be accused of not representing the No vote fairly, or even the undecided. And over angry people like yourself would jump on them calling them biased. Every Tom dick and Harry now accuses the BC of bias – Its an easy and lazy accusation to make.

Don’t complain to OfCom, though. That’s just petty. They’re not trying to manipulate the referendum. You know they’re not all ready. You’ll give yourself a brain clot.

Trouble is, nobody ever suggested the BBC should only air the opinions of ‘Yes’ voters. The issue here was the fact that Nick Robinson tampered with a report in order to create a false impression.

I’ve complained to the BBC, yet again! We here in Scotland have been demonstrating at the BBC headquarters and so many people are not renewing their licences and are boycotting them.
We know for a fact that the BBC has been biased against the referendum since day one, but to blatantly lie, as they have done with this programme, as well as the Nick Robinson one, is taking things too far and we should all put the pressure on them now.
BBC are slowly starting to crack and and the more people across the UK who put more pressure on them will make that crack split in the end.
No more of being told what we can and can’t watch, no more false reporting and lying, and no more being the mouthpiece of the Tory Party!

This is purely political point scoring. “………no more being the mouthpiece of the Tory Party!?” Disgraceful.

In what way? The previous article lays out how closely BBC News is tied to the Conservative Party.

Lets not forget Sky News too they are just as bad if not worse.

Nick Robinson should never have been considered for his BBC job, same goes for Andrew Neil. Can you imagine the outcry from the Daily Mail et al if an ex Young Socialist became the BBC political editor? Or if George Monbiot took over the chair of This Week? Andrew Neil doesn’t draw enough ire, whenever I see him he’s blatantly hostile to left wing guests.

While i complained about Robinson and signed the 38 degrees petition after seeing the clear evidence with my own eyes, i wont be complaining about the contents of this tweet without provenance, as a kneejerk reaction to my dislike of how the BBC operates.
Loads of complaints without proof will become meaningless, or indeed make US look foolish

It’s not just the BBC at this sort of thing. There was to be a debate in Dundee a couple of weeks ago. On the morning, any decided No voters were told to find as many friends as they could because the TV folk (STV I think) could only find a handful of them. We thought it was hilarious at the time but when the BBC act this way the laughter dies.
