What a golden moment – and it should tell the Conservative leaders of our Coalition government exactly how highly their country regards them.

Channel 4 ran a festive, celebrity edition of its game show Fifteen to One yesterday (Tuesday, December 23). This is the one with 15 contestants (all faces from TV in this instance), in which a contestant who answers a question correctly can nominate others to answer until one of them gets an answer right, in which case the metaphorical baton gets passed to them. For every wrong answer they lose one of their three ‘lives’.

In last night’s edition, Phill Jupitus nominated Jenny Éclair to answer a question on George Osborne. How was he known before he decided to adopt the name ‘George’?

Without hesitation, Ms Éclair uttered: “Tit.”

She lost a life but Phill was already murmuring “Worth it. Worth it!” as the buzzer sounded for an incorrect answer.

Who could argue with him?

    I saw that don’t watch quiz shows but my mother does just happened to walk by at the right time totally worth it to see it, that’s the kind of public response statistics and lies can’t cover up, them are the situations where you hear the truth

        Off topic Mike but my machine that controls my hot water and heating, broke down yesterday and Hull city council is refusing to fix it, even though I have told them I am sick and disabled! They have even told me that I am physically responsible for the machine ( I am no engineer ). I have no family or anyone else to escape to, so I am stuck in a freezing flat on Christmas day with no access to hot water unless I deplete my electricity supply.

        Aside from that I sincerely wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and the best new year ever!

          I’m sincerely sorry to learn about your misfortune. Is there nobody who could ‘rescue’ you – take you out of there until you can get it repaired?
          We were without hot water and heat over Christmas week four years ago (or thereabouts) due to a mistake by a neighbour so I know what it’s like.
          Thank you for the Christmas and New Year wishes, though, and I hope you manage to have a good one in spite of your difficulties.

    I am on ESA WRAG Single no kids own home on mortgage
    Same happened to me my Gas Central Heating boiler broke and unrepairable

    I did try this scheme first (I believe the government has given new money for this scheme)

    “Under the Governments ECO Scheme, qualifying home owners and private tenants could have their old in-efficient boilers replaced completely free of charge. If you qualify, we will arrange for a local, approved company to contact you to complete the installation. This service is free to use.”

    I did not qualify due to my Central heating Boiler being a new model condensing boiler

    I did get in touch with my council England NW area and the councils Built Environment (could be called something else in other councils) they helped me get a Charity to pay for a replacement took 5 months from my boiler broken and for the new one to be fitted and cost £1400. the council and I did not pay a penny (haven’t got a penny)

    I would try the ECO Scheme first and if you do not meet the Criteria try your local council

      Problem is I live I high rise flats ( 11 floors ) and the council doesn’t even know who their supplier is. I have been told that I have to wait until next week to get It fixed. They have offered me a portable heater, but that guzzles electricity, I can’t afford that

        They don’t even know who their supplier is?
        Have you contacted your councillor directly? They can often push things forward.

    Joanna
    If you rent your property it is up to the landlord to fix your heating/hot water

    If they do not/refuse or take too much time to offer a repair seek legal advice ASAP

    You seem to have a good case against them (I am no lawyer)

    If you own your property the ECO scheme and charity may be a good option

      It is the council I rent from, they need they care taker to get in the cupboard outside my flat, but the out of hours service do not know who the care taker is, he is a stand in so don’t either. They were quite nasty to me today. At one point the woman said “is it a council flat?” I said yes so she said so it’s not private rented then? (Well Duh)

      Mike is this serious enough to email my MP Alan Johnson about? I can’t get anything done until Monday.

        Better to contact your councillor, I would’ve thought – it’s a council house and therefore a council problem. Johnson could only exert pressure from above; your councillor should be able to demand action on the spot.

      … which is of course not their place; you are a constituent and a service funder – they are there to serve you, not the other way around.

    Some advice is to make sure there is a paper trail Email is a good way and quicker and then if they mess you around go the legal route and you can use the paper/email as evidence that you have contacted them

    I have found phoning does not leave a evidence trail, they can just deny any knowledge of the phone call, also make sure when dealing with the council to mention you are seeking legal advice THATS IMPORTANT it tends to speed things up
