Exercise Your Political Rights: VOTE! – Beastrabban\’s weblog

Last Updated: May 7, 2015By

The Beast has supported Vox Political by reposting the image from this blog’s last article and exhorting his own readers to get out and vote for a better government than the last one. He writes:

Remember – the Tories and Lib Dems have reformed the registration system, just to prevent people from voting. This is how they view democracy, despite all the rhetoric about defending and promoting it through ‘localism’, or some such ideological camouflage. They fear it. Just have tyrants have always feared it.

So defy them. Don’t give in to apathy, or pessimism. Use your franchise.

The Francophone Swiss philosopher, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, said that the man, who votes, but doesn’t want anyone else to, wishes to be a master. The one, who doesn’t, wishes to be a slave.

The Tories are always keen to get their people to vote, and vote first. Because they do see themselves as the masters.

But you don’t have to accept the status of slaves.

Just voted. Weaver Vale is a knife-edge marginal so we must boot out the incumbent Tory.

The fıgures issued today by the Electoral Commşission do not support the claim that the new system would prevent people from voting – rather the reverse. The allegations of a Tory/LibDem conspiracy policy seem equally demolished.

      Oh do they?
It will be interesting to see how many people vote in this election, compared to the last few – and taking into account population increases.

Well, I know at least 2 families who are very irate because the county council had messed up their addresses and so were unable to vote and someone else who had moved within the last 6 months and was not registered.
    I think country-wide it’s going to be a lot.
No, it is definitely back to slaves or rather serfs. The landowners, aristocrats and toffs own the land and therefore they think everything else. They see themselves as blue-bloods, chosen and claiming their birthright. We are subjects, not citizens. Everything belongs to the crown, the courts, police and military take an oath of allegiance to the sovereign. Not the people.
    Time for big change!
