Right-wingers grossly underestimated popularity of Jeremy Corbyn

Part of the dialogue on Twitter about Jeremy Corbyn’s suitability for the job of Labour leader, mentioned in an earlier blog post, included this gem from one Jon James, who seems to misunderstand where Labour belongs on the political spectrum:

Ah right. So he’s not popular among the wider Labour membership at all. Let’s pass this one over to that illustrious right-wing gutter-trash Guido Fawkes blog for a perspective from the Uptight Right:

You have to read between the lines a little – Guido author Paul Staines wouldn’t understand a mature political argument if it spat in his face (at least, not when he’s in character), so his opinions must be taken lightly.

He’s saying that a vast majority of Labour’s grassroots members are practically ordering their MPs and CLPs to back Corbyn.

“Everyone I speak to” wants him to win, according to a Kendall supporter in the article. Clearly, then, that person should follow the wishes of their constituents.

Guido reckons Labour’s incumbent right-wingers are angry that Corbyn has been given the chance to widen the debate – showing, again, that he totally misunderstands Labour politics. You see, Labour still agrees with democracy. It’s the Conservative Party that prefers the opposite.

So, in answer to the question highlighted in red… It’s working out just fine, thanks.

As for Mr James, the tweeter who claimed Corbyn was only popular among Lefties on the social media… Your move, squire.

Well said Mike, it’s refreshing to see somebody with sense. There is so much hogwash and rightist garbage being spouted about Jeremy Corbyn.

Are you sure Labour believes in Democracy? They do of course consider that it is essential that the UK remains in the corruption ridden democratically deficient, and that is a kind description, eu. Also that the people should not be allowed to voice their opinion on us remaining in a body which costs us a fortune, and we get very little positive outcomes because of our membership.

The positive outcomes from membership of the EU are huge and demonstrable.
However, the democratic deficiency is becoming increasingly marked (TTIP).
You are confusing the Labour leadership – about which the debate is increasingly focused on its own lack of democracy – with the Labour Party as a whole.
The huge mass of the Labour membership is very strongly in favour of democracy – hence the groundswell of support for Jeremy Corbyn and change to bring the Labour leadership back in line with what it should be.

I know a lot of folks voted Ukip because it supported getting out of the EU. Also that is why a lot of folks voted for Con’s. This issue is why the Labour party lost. All this is in my opinion.

So there won’t be any reason to vote UKIP next time, because we’ll have had the referendum by then and we’ll all know where we stand.
Or will UKIP copy the SNP and launch a renewed campaign on claims that the vote was rigged?

Every time I hear JC on TV or read something about him he just seems to gain in stature, his demolition of Krishnan Guru Murthy on Channel 4 news was fantastic. Someone who is passionate about democracy at last is like a breath of fresh air. No wonder he is connecting with people and the career pols of both parties are getting scared. Someone with integrity will always appeal

We are in a spiral of Hyper-Inflation with an insane Reich Wing Government simply printing money to allow their ‘friends’ to purchase assets (most of England judging from the property press) and continue to exist as though they were Royal scroungers in waiting.

All this in despite of the clear and indisputable fact that their so called City Corps and gambling Banksters had not gone bankrupt, and were entirely dependant upon the small taxpayer, e.g. the poorly paid and via QE (CORPORATE WELFARE) plus the privatisation of virtually every asset and action necessary for the running of any Nation then, ALMOST MONTHLY quadrupling the cost of these ‘SERVICES’ .

Under these circumstances could we be anything but Left Wing, unless of course we are the Labour Party, who apparently cannot grasp the difference between Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Rich in Assets themselves, and in a cushy financially enhancing ( they don’t even have to bother going to the ‘Office’ and mostly don’t anyway) sinecure, they invariably veer towards the Reich wing, something poor misguided political imbecile John Paul Sartre could never understand, when his beloved Communist Party got power, they stopped caring about the poor from whom they got that power.

Corbyn may not be the potential ideal of Left Wing, personally I disagree with most of his political philosophy, (anti-Jewish and pro Hamas is insane) firebrand but he is at least on our side….I think.
