Where DO kids learn about sex these days?

Last Updated: August 1, 2015By

Certainly some things are not for young eyes.

One does wonder what Conservative policy on sex education is, however.  Can anyone illuminate This Blog on what is currently taught in schools – and is it enough to keep the “young and curious” informed on what it’s all about, when it’s allowed and what the consequences can be?

Or is it Conservative policy to keep quiet about the whole subject until someone comes forward in a few years’ time, with claims about misdeeds by government ministers?

The Prime Minister is attempting to tackle underage use of pornographic websites again. On Thursday, David Cameron announced a public consultation on how to tighten age controls to restrict under 18s accessing explicit content.

A sixteen year old couple can shag but any piccies are kiddie porn for which they can be charged and if found guilty punished to the full extent of the law and made to sign the sex offenders register.

This is more pussy-footing round the bloody edges. Absolute failure to address the issue of 13 year old children sending each other pictures of their genitalia, which can end with both facing court and having their names inscribed on the sex-offenders register for publishing child pornography.

When they pass laws in a panic then by definition they do not allow themselves to approach the matter in a deliberate and considered fashion.

The precocious sexual behaviour of children is a very real issue that I have encountered twice in the last couple of years. Had I felt so able I would have spoken personally to the children involved, but my relationship with them is sufficiently distant that I felt it better to talk to family of theirs, and in one case, child safeguarding.

Cameron’s …friend of some twenty and more years, a three times unsuccessful tory candidate who was Cameron’s personal choice as senior aide in relation to internet pornography filtering, was allowed to resign before he was secretively arrested in early 2014 and he has still not been tried on the child pornography charges on suspicion of which he was arrested.

Cameron must be harried on this, every time he opens his ignorant gob concerning computer networking technology, on the subject of which he knows nothing. The fool stated that encryption would be banned the other day, without a thought as to how easy that would make life for those with criminal intent.

If you or I had been found with a tablet brim full of kiddie porn our feet would not have touched.

The two words that should should surround Cameron wherever he goes, as a rolling rhythmic chant, are “Patrick Rock!”

i do wonder though how much is taught to the kids before they leave school. (though to be honest i felt it was my job to teach my kids this.though the school had its part to play. ) but going by the number of 19/20yrs olds who have 2 or more kids yet aren’t married or in long term partnership. i suspect not a lot is taught properly, anymore than home economics are taught as a must, or relationship/ socialising etc.not that the latter 2 were taught when i went to school 58-68 yrs ago.cookery n cleaning, washing n ironing was though,
    though only to girls.

      Dear Hugosmum70,

I suspect that the reason children are not taught is that the people who should take an interest are frightened.

Last year I felt that I had no option but to mention my concerns about a child to ‘safeguarding’, since although I had stressed the matter of her precocious sexual behaviour in the company of a man (me) her grandfather’s age I had been told “You’ll just have to get used to it like all the rest of us.” This was followed by overt sexual activity at school, and later self-harm

I expected shit and I was not disappointed. It took three months for the child to be allocated to a youth worker who spoke to me and logged me as ‘reasonably concerned’. In that time various social workers and RMNs had been telling the child’s mother that I had obviously encouraged such behaviour, was on the sexual offenders register, should be on it, would be on it when they’d spoken to the judge. Mum had never doubted my motive.

Some years previous to that I had been selected as a responsible adult by a small child who had run away from its parents on an escalator in a shopping centre and stood before me looking up with obvious expectation. Picked up said infant, put it on my shoulder and turned in place until it exclaimed “Papa!”. Child reunited with relieved Levantine parents, everybody on their way rejoicing. When I mentioned this later separately to my sons and their mum all asked as of one sweet accord “Are you out of your f**king mind?”

There are previous chapters, but the last ten years is enough. How have we brits forgotten that children are a public responsibility?

I am fortunate in that I am now 65 and possessed of a very thick hide. This is not the case for everybody.

Would I do the same again? Of course I would.

Whilst, yes, there are genuine threats on the internet like child porn out there, the real reason that Camaron wants to filter the Internet is to shut down political sites he dislikes or at least make them harder to get to.

Also, why should I have to enter my card details, meaning they might be stolen or I might be charged too much, when there is so much free porn still around? What does Camaron have against me having a sex life?
