Liberal Democrat conference: Does anybody care?

deadbird

Even This Writer did not realise the Liberal Democrats are holding their party conference this weekend. Thankfully there was a footnote on the BBC ‘Politics Live’ page.

Does anybody care?

Have the Liberal Democrats ruined themselves forever, after their five treacherous years in government with the Conservative Party?

Write in and tell us your opinions – they will be more interesting than anything happening in… Where is this Lib Dem conference, anyway?

they can try for a center role to play but it’s likely to be rejected as sure as eggs are eggs it will be a conservative conference with nothing of note being offered

I was gonna say, “Care? Has anyone even noticed?”

      Noticed what?

      Oh!
      Yeah, the Liberal Democrats.

Sorry, what were we discussing, again?

I don’t know, but if it had the word ‘LibDems’ in it, it can’t have been anything important.

It took 5 years of power for people to understand exactly what their definition of liberal and democrat actually were.Armed with this knowledge the British people sacked 90% of them.

My view on this: self inflicted gun shot wounds to both feet. I voted for them in 2010 as a protest because the Labour candidate in my constituency had made himself impossible to vote for. I will never be voting for them again – five years of being handmaidens to the Tories cannot be lived down.

Libs 5 mins of fame has now been and truly gone. Will be interesting if any major TV coverages take place plus how many sponsors dig deep to support the conference event and side shows. Failure on university fees was a major no no however one has to think that they may have actually tempered the full conservative impact by horse trading politics….however we are now seeing that full Conservative impact without the Libs.influence.
Would like to see some moves on proportional representation to try and reflect the voting populations voices… as per UKIP having just one MP representing millions of voters …..does cry out for change which of course will never happen.

I outline my views on the Liberal Democrats future, quite extensively here: https://andrewhennager.wordpress.com/2015/06/20/so-where-now-for-the-liberal-democrats/

The lib dems are a collective waste of oxygen, and have completely self destructed. It is not likely that there will be a way back for them.

They got into bed with the devil and now are paying the price in their obscurity. Not a single article about them or their new leader in the press.
