Don’t say Momentum wants Labour MPs to be disciplined for disloyalty – we ALL do!
Perhaps it is true that pro-Corbyn movement Momentum is calling on Labour to discipline disloyal MPs – but the Observer is overstretching itself in claiming that this is some kind of left-wing takeover attempt.
The simple fact is that anyone who supports Labour and has a brain will be clamouring for these idiots to be silenced and any infighting halted before they can really stir it up. No political party can win an election after a sustained period of unrest between its members – look at Labour during the 1980s and the Conservatives from the mid-1990s until at least 2005.
No doubt these so-called ‘moderates’ feel perfectly justified in doing all they can to ruin their own party’s chances of returning to office – after all, as MPs, they’ve just had an 11 per cent increase in their salaries and have absolutely nothing to worry about – right?
If that is true, then they are betraying their very reason for being Labour MPs. Labour politicians represent the interests of the people, not their own. Or at least, they should.
They need to be reminded that their own fortunes are linked to those of the working class backbone of the United Kingdom.
If they persist in behaving like spoilt children, they need to be shown the exit door.
Supporters of the pro-Jeremy Corbyn grassroots movement Momentum are calling on Labour’s national executive committee to discipline two MPs for disloyalty in an attempt to tighten the left’s grip on the party, the Observer can reveal.
In a sign of a power struggle between Corbyn’s backers and those on the centre and right of the party, Momentum members are urging Corbyn loyalists to sign up to demands for action against Frank Field and Simon Danczuk, as well as against a former parliamentary candidate, Emily Benn. The move is part of a counterattack against efforts to expel Corbyn’s leftwing policy adviser Andrew Fisher.
The NEC is already scheduled to discuss further action against Fisher, who has been suspended by general secretary Iain McNicol.
Momentum supporters are circulating documents urging Corbyn loyalists to contact McNicol before the NEC meeting to demand action against the three. A document from Momentum supporters in Southampton, posted on Facebook, has similar wording to documents being circulated among constituency parties across the country.

This is the English media at its worst. The essential facts that need to be known are – what these MP’s said to warrant disciplinary action? For example if they stated I think we need to consider our foreign very carefully before committing to unilateral disarmament that is completely different to writing on Facebook, Labour policy and its leader is wrong to want to re-nationalise the NHS. For without these core details all else is unnecessarily speculative and risks being irrelevant. However, does the Observer assess or supply these details, does it hell. And why because it wants to get across its agenda of casting Corbyn supporters as unreasonable left-wing infill-traitors and the middle to right-wing MP’s as victims.
