Why are UKIP lying about Google?  | aliberallife

Last Updated: February 15, 2016By

Since yesterday Ukip have been promoting the idea that the EU is preventing the UK from taxing large corporations such as Google.

This has been posted on their FB page. And shared numerous times on Twitter.

Yet again UKIP have told a lie. They know that on our own we would never be able to successfully target these companies, even if our governments were actually prepared to do so. The EU is not preventing us from doing something. We are preventing ourselves from doing anything.

Why do UKIP lie? Because they cannot be honest about the EU, it might reveal that the only argument for Brexit they have is people’s fears over immigration.

You’re predisposed to allow big business to screw the workers then. Do you support TTIP? Yes, you probably do. It’s the Socialist way – cut your nose off to spite your face. You probably support the call for Scottish Independence AND the Scot’s promise that they would gleefully join the EU lock stock and barrel if they got that independence from the UK. Please explain ‘independence’ to your readers.

No, I’m not “predisposed to allow big business to screw the workers”.
Nor do I support TTIP – as you know perfectly well, being a long-term reader of This Blog; you’ve read all the anti-TTIP articles.
You’re assuming a false dichotomy – that, because I’m promoting an article saying UKIP lied about the EU supporting Google, I must support big business and TTIP. Nothing could be further from the facts.
If you had read the original article – and you clearly have not – you would have known that the EU is using its considerable influence to make sure that politicians who are in thrall to big business – like the Conservative Government here in the UK – cannot break state aid rules by subsidising wealthy companies. It has also launched formal antitrust proceedings against Google.
That’s not allowing “big business to screw the workers” – that’s standing up to big business.

UKIP simply reiterated that it is the eu regulations which are stopping us getting the right amount of tax from Google and other big business’ I would have thought you would support them just for once instead of a knee jerk attack.

I’m not going to support a lie.
