This man is ill, and he is old. Obviously, the Conservatives want to deport him – today

Hakeen Muhammad Haleen with members of his family. They are UK citizens; he isn’t. So he is due to be packed off to a foreign country where he has no family at all.

A friend of This Blog sent in the following information, about a 77-year-old man who has been living with his family in the UK, suffering vascular dementia, Parkinson’s disease, heart problems, angina, and diabetes – so of course Theresa May wants to send him back to Pakistan.

In addition, Hakeem Muhammad Haleen is blind in one eye and has poor eyesight in the other. In the past, he has had a stroke.

His son has launched a petition for him to remain in the UK, on the Change.org website. It states: “He has been staying with me and my family, at our expense, since 2010. He is a widower with a number of serious health issues who needs around the clock care.

“Now, because he is a Pakistani citizen, the Home Office are trying to deport him — even though it would mean he would live completely alone with nobody to care for him.

“I have repeatedly assured the Home Office that I and my wife will take full financial responsibility for my father’s welfare and that we have no desire or intention to claim benefits on his behalf. We only wish to be allowed to care for our father and provide a safe and loving home for him with us for his remaining years.

“The present immigration rule on adult dependent relatives introduced in 2012[1] makes it almost impossible for British citizens to bring their elderly parents to live with them in the UK in their declining years.

“Despite these rules earlier this year 92 year old Myrtle Cothill from South Africa who was given permission to stay in the UK after more than 150,000 people signed a petition protesting against a deportation order.

“My father was born a British subject, as were his parents. Surely the Home Office can extend the compassion it has showed Mrs Cothill to my father in his time of need?”

The petition, here, has amassed only around 20,500 supporters since it was started two months ago and last week the government announced that it was moving up the date of deportation from June to today (April 28).

This leaves no time left to prevent an elderly, infirm man from being sent to a foreign country where he will face an uncertain – but possibly very short – future.

We don’t treat terrorists like that. Why are we doing this to a harmless old man?

My friend, who sent me this information, suggested this story is “a true representation of the ingrained institutionalised bigotry, racism, and inhumanity of all Conservatives everywhere”.

Is he wrong?

Absolute disgrace, his family are caring for him, leave him in peace. The British invaded and plundered India many years go and had no right to.

This illegal invasion divided the country as it is today.

How can they even consider doing this to a harmless sick and elderly man

abuse of power is one direction to go in that making it illegal is a deterent. however restricting power in that one year performance related observations are made as norm by a randomly chosen pool of people from a peoples panel is a better safeguard. lords are deficient in this respect.

I hope the government has mercy on him, why is it that only criminals have rights? but vulnerable people have none?

More fascist behaviour from the new Hitler party, why aren’t they not more on the ball when it comes to, whatever the religion, preachers of hate and actual terrorists, their rights are protected yet everyday people who don’t do or wish any harm on anyone, don’t!

This Government prefer the sick and disabled to either go away or die. The family of this Man are prepared to pay for him. What is wrong with this Government? They have no compassion at all. For goodness sake he is doing no harm at all, why not let him stay!
