This Writer agrees with smart commentators who say that the UKIP vote was an endorsement of the EU referendum taking place next month.
If the UK votes to leave the European Union, then support for UKIP will fade away, it being seen to have done its job.
Of course, it is just as likely that we will vote to remain. Will this throw up a protest movement, continuing to support the single-issue party?
Or will the public consider the issue settled, leaving seven toothless AMs in Cardiff Bay?

The disgraced former Conservative plans to challenge Welsh leader Nathan Gill for the helm of the anti-EU party’s rump in Cardiff Bay.
UKIP scooped seven Assembly seats at last week’s election, including one for Mr Hamilton, 19 years after he was booted out of Parliament by voters over cash-for-questions allegations.
He denied any wrongdoing.
Mr Hamilton plans to stage a coup when the party gets together in the Welsh capital on Tuesday.

Hamilton is the original corrupt Tory. Although he may feel at home with UKIP, surely he doesn’t have any real credibility?
I think there were many more corrupt Tories prior to Neil Hamilton!
He’s just one of the more prominent, recent corrupt Tories.

The election of Kippers to the Welsh assembly is the start of the rot in Welsh politics just like it has done in the UK.
I wonder how many voters actually knew about Hamilton’s murky past and the fact he was a tory, as of course, was Reckless?
