Wouldn’t it be good to hope that this contrast will be a revelation to right-wingers in the Labour Party who still haven’t realised that the public really like Jeremy Corbyn?
Sadly, they are probably too busy working out how their idol Tony Blair is going to cover his rear when the Chilcot Report comes out in a month’s time.
I’ve got news for them: Suggesting Saddam Hussein would have destabilised the Middle East more than Blair’s war… isn’t going to cut any ice.
Comedians and musicians are to unite for a special gig to honour Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn .
Following a successful tour, #JC4PM is arriving at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool for two dates, 25 and 26 September, with some of the most talented comedians, musicians and poets in the country.
The #JC4PM tour evolved from a Jeremy Corbyn Night in London that saw over 1,000 people turn out to see a mix of performers and speakers showing support for Labour’s leader. The subsequent tour has seen thousands more people turn out in Bristol, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Croydon, Bournemouth, Sheffield, Cambridge and Manchester.

Tony Blair is expected to defend his decision to join in the invasion of Iraq by asking his critics to think through the consequences for stability in the Middle East had Saddam Hussein been left in power, capable of developing weapons of mass destruction.
In the wake of the publication of the Chilcot inquiry report, friends of the former prime minister believe he will argue that the ultimate cause of the long-term bloodshed in Iraq was the scale of external intervention in the country by Iran and al-Qaida rather than failures in post-conflict planning.
Blair, frustrated by the repeated delays in the production of the report, has been meeting his allies to discuss his response, but is not planning to make any speech or intervention before publication on 6 July.

The Blairites will do and say absolutely anything they feel is necessary, however outlandish or unfounded or immediately-disprovable, to justify the invasion of Iraq. But more than that, they’ll go to whatever lengths they think they have have to, to prevent Blair’s image from being even bismerched by the mere suggestion of the possibility of his prosecution or trial for war crimes. Certainly, they would march into Hell itself to prevent him being punished or even being proved to have done anything wrong.
Because they followed him. They put their faith in him. They believed in him. And if *he’s* proven to have been wrong-headed, or even just *wrong* from the get-go… then so were they. And god forbid they let themselves think or be made to realise that – the foundations of everything they were taught and led to believe would fall out from under them.

As for Tony Blair, the poisonous drip feeding of negative propaganda from the left has led to an extraordinary ignorance among the younger generation. According to a poll I saw yesterday, more young people associate him with ‘crimes against humanity’ than associate Pol Ppt with the same. A truly dark and dangerous rewriting of history.

The young people who were polled probably haven’t heard of Pol Pot. Do YOU tell anyone about him?
(For anyone who doesn’t know, young or old, he was the dictator of Cambodia who murdered around two million of his own people in the 1970s).
They have heard of Tony Blair and have drawn their own conclusions. They are entitled to their opinion.
As for left-wing comics turning up at a Labour Party conference signalling that the public likes Jeremy Corbyn – you distract from the point.
It isn’t about the performers turning up. It’s about the public who’ll be there to watch them.

It seems no radio, television news or current affairs programme is without Blair giving his opinion on the upcoming UK referendum on whether to stay in the European Union, making near libelous comments on the current courteous, dignified, non-warmongering leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn (who was implacably against Blair’s foreign interventions.) He has waded in to the economy, Africa, faith, God and of course is cheerleading for invading Syria and reinvading Iraq.
He had been Prime Minister for a mere twenty three months when he signaled his preference for bloody interventionism. Speaking at the Chicago Economic Club on 22nd April 1999, he said: Many of our problems have been caused by two dangerous and ruthless men – Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milosevic … Instead of enjoying its oil wealth Iraq has been reduced to poverty, with political life stultified …” The Balkans of course was already being pulverized: “On it’s fiftieth birthday, NATO must prevail” he said. Perhaps he was facing his and the US’ worst nightmare – that with the Berlin Wall gone, the Cold War ended and European and Russian citizens rejoicing, NATO no longer had a raison d’etre. Don’t “give peace a chance.
As for Iraq’s “poverty”, prior to the paralyzing US-UK driven UN embargo imposed on Hiroshima Day 1990, Iraq’s money had been poured for thirty years into infrastructure, free high quality health services, UN Award winning free education, clean water, reliable electricity, telecommunications – near all comprehensively destroyed by a thirty four nation onslaught (17th January 1991-28th February 1991.)
It can only be hoped that Chilcot throws the book at this despicable human being and all involved in Iraq’s tragedy. Whatever the findings it could never be sufficient.
