The full extent and true nature of the “blatant hate” that has beset post-Brexit Britain is today detailed for the first time after The Independent was given exclusive access to a database of more than 500 racist incidents compiled in the weeks since the EU referendum.

The hatred that has divided British society in the past month features “F*** off to Poland” letters in Tunbridge Wells, wealthy London diners refusing to be served by foreign waiters, dog excrement shoved through letter boxes in Rugby, and racist abuse from children as young as ten.

A picture of nationwide hatred emerged after The Independent was allowed exclusive access to a database of accounts collected by the social media sites PostRefRacismWorrying Signs and iStreetWatch.

In reality I don’t like it and I only ticked the “liked” box because the article is informative.

What I don’t like is to find that some of my countrymen are so selfish and greedy that, even a small minority of them, could behave in such a disgusting manner.

Of course we can’t possibly take in all refugees in this small country but we could do a lot more to help, and to treat people in such dire distress so heartlessly is nothing short of disgusting greed and hedonism.

I wonder how these “people!” would feel if any of their little children were left terrified, without comfort or knowledge of what they might have done to deserve such utter disgraceful negligence and verbal abuse.

Shameful, and it was deliberately incited and encouraged by so-called responsible politicians.

Appalling, especially in the case of the Polish. Poles aren’t “refugees”, they are EU citizens and currently have the right to live and work in the UK. Poles formed a quite large contingent of our wartime RAF. Should one of our Polish airmen be shot down over enemy territory and caught, they would have the real prospect of facing “special treatment” from the Gestapo. The Brexiteers have a lot to answer for.

You give away your share of the ownership of this Nation if you so choose but, leave my rights to enjoy living within a Nation it has taken my Family to build over the past 2,000 years; when things became difficult we stood fast and steadfast overcoming all obstacles to create an environment we could be content within.

We are not going to give away our heritage to those who cannot remain and build their own states, jumping upon the British heritage instead of developing their own evidence’s that they are of absolutely no value to our Nation.

What are you saying here, John?
        “No foreigners”?
We’re all immigrants, or descendants of immigrants.
Don’t try to assume a false superiority you don’t deserve.

    Hate Crime – Question
    – in the House of Lords at 2:53 pm on
    5th July 2016.

    Lord Harris of Haringey Labour
My Lords, it is not simply a question of the referendum campaign making xenophobia and racism ‘respectable’ again; this is also the responsibility of the Minister’s right honourable friends in the other place who have consistently pandered to this in exactly the same way—for example, the right honourable Theresa May and the campaigns run by the Home Office against illegal immigrants. The Prime Minister’s intervention in the mayoral election in London, talking about extremists, was all part of the same picture. Is there not a pattern which has led to this increase in xenophobic incidents in the last few weeks?

I would suggest the word ‘respectable’ should have read ‘acceptable’….just saying…

I did submit a rather lengthy response to this article that somehow disappeared. Normally, my comment would appear with a message saying that it was awaiting moderation but this did not happen and the comment has still not appeared.

Maybe I didn’t receive it. There still are a few awaiting moderation and the longer responses take more time to approve, simply because it takes longer for me to read them and my time is at a premium.
The moral of the story is: Keep it pithy (although obviously make sure you include everything you need, like links to further information if you’re saying something potentially controversial).
