No, HuffPost, hard-left entryism ISN’T returning to the Labour Party

Way to mislead the public, Huffington Post!

The Twitter link to the article quoted below claims boldly – and falsely – “Hard left entryists in Labour are back – and boasting about it on their websites”.

For the claim to be true, these people would have to be members of the Labour Party.

But this clearly isn’t the case.

The member of The Socialist Party who claimed to have received a round of applause at a Wallasey public meeting never claimed to have joined Labour.

The comment was: “Wirral Socialist Party welcomed and attended the meeting” – as members of a separate organisation.

Because, you see, this was a public meeting and anybody could attend. It had to be; Labour’s National Executive Committee had banned constituency parties from holding meetings and suspended the Wallasey CLP amid allegations (yet to be proved) of abuse, intimidation, homophobia and threats.

Look, here’s the flier that went out prior to the meeting:

The leaflet calling the public meeting in Wallasey.

The leaflet calling the public meeting in Wallasey.

See? Not an official Labour meeting; other people could attend.

It occurs to This Writer that the best way to prevent entryism of the kind being pleaded by the Huffington Post would have been to allow Constituency Labour Parties to continue holding their meetings as normal, rather than suspending them and justifying the order with hysterical allegations of behaviour below the acceptable standard.

One wonders what the HuffPost was trying to achieve – and who put that news site up to it.

Hard-left activists infiltrated a meeting of Labour supporters and called for the deselection of “Blairite politicians” just a week before the party’s Deputy Leader warned against “Trotsky entryists”.

Tom Watson claimed Labour faced being destroyed unless the party tackled the “old hands twisting young arms” in the membership.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn hit back at the claims, accusing Watson of “patronising members and peddling baseless conspiracy theories”.

But just last week The Socialist Party – known as Militant in the 1980s – was boasting of receiving a round of applause at a meeting of Labour supporters when it called for the deselection of MPs.

Trotskyist Entryism is a bright, shiny thing. Look, look! All those dangerous Corbynistas aren’t your Granny, your Mum, and Mum’s mates from the charity shop at all. They’re Trots! Be Afraid! Fear Them! (And please don’t look at the Tory-Lite credentials of the plotters, as demonstrated clearly for the last twenty years!

Ah yes the devious Trot tactic of attending an open public meeting by walking through the door and saying who they were, how very dare they! Next these covert Trots will be infiltrating our supermarkets by shopping in Tesco’s, and providing covert support for RMT action by using rail and buses. In fact, Corbyn is a known train user – need we say more?

But seriously, what is going on with the Huff Post? Very good question.

Disappointed with HuffPost – Are attendees at public meetings now expected to pass ‘security’ demanding to know ‘Are you, or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party’?

Anybody could make this mistake….if their idea of research is reading the Daily Stale and regurgitating it. Usually HP is better than most, so I’m disappointed.
BTW, isn’t the NEC ban on CLP meetings in contravention of Article 11 of ECHR relating to freedom of assembly?

Didn’t Jeremy Corbyn try his best to PREVENT the extremely hard-left Militant Tendency from being booted out of the Labour party during the Kinnock era?

    Just asking.

Hasn’t the Huffington Post just been sold? I seem to recall seeing an article about how Ms Huffington is off to pastures new…

Ah the usual right wing trick – buy an impartial title to disseminate more right wing corporate propaganda. Are there any honest media titles left?
