Corbyn leadership victory sparks surge of people JOINING Labour

See that tweet, right above these words?

I’m seeing a lot of messages like that, at the moment.

But apparently the mainstream media are full of stories about people leaving.

Of course, people are welcome to come and go as they please.

But the circumstances betray a great deal about those who are going.

Canary editor Kerry-Anne Mendoza has it right, here:

160924-labour-leaversSo to those people, let’s just say: “Go, and go well.”

Meanwhile, it is time for the NEC to redress some of the injustices that have happened over the last three months. Main – and most obvious – of these is the huge number of members who were purged from the party for no very good reason.

Thousands of people banned from voting because they thought a Green Party policy was good, back in 2014! You can understand the frustration.

The NEC is meeting every day during the Labour conference, so perhaps its members should visit Twitter and view the tweets made under the hashtag #UnpurgeMe, like these:

Call me suspicious, but I reckon the next media attack will be a claim that Jeremy Corbyn’s victory is “so unpopular” that he has caused a mass exodus from Labour. In fact, this couldn’t be further from the fact.

Here’s the fact:

Spread the word.

When have the “truth! ” been important the the laim stream media?! It’s all about the narrative, there’s a lot of stupid people out there for them to feed BS to, but I’m so glad JC won and the party is back on track.

Could the claim by the NEC/Media that lots are leaving the Labour be used by them to hide the number of members suspended for being Corbyn supporters. That is to state the NEC/Media turn the suspension of thousands of party members into a story of a max exodus from the party over Corbyn’s victory. So we need to know how many were suspended and when the supposed exodus took place. This will allow the two events to be viewed separately and so their cause identified, albeit not precisely.

Purges were not just over the last 3 months. That was an escalation of stuff going on since around July 2015. All those victimised must be reinstated.

Dennis Skinner said, today, oan Radio 4, that the £abour Party now has more members that the Tories, U.K.I.P. and £iberal Democrats combined! Why won’t our M.P.s just get behind the man who created that? WE are the Party. We are the people. What is government for, if not to serve us? If you’re worried about deselection, go to your Party membership and find out how you can serve them better. It isn’t Mr. Corbyn that you need to fear, if you have done wrong but those who put you into office to serve THEM. Why are these people bent on the destruction of a party that will actually carry out the will of the people; as close to real democracy as we are likely to get?
Why should Mr. Corbyn give in to your demands, when you are the ones who should be falling upon your swords? You took him on. You lost. Now, concede, in humility and do what you were elected to do.

The problem you’ve got though, is that the Blairites in the party didn’t like the fact that Corbyn won the leadership the first time, and they’ve hated him ever since. And they’ll keep hating him most likely. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re already hard at work, trying to come up with another plan to try and oust him… or rather, should I call that Labour Tomorrow? (whatever THAT turns into).
On a slightly lighter note though, some of the tweets on the #GoodbyeLabour hashtag aren’t half amusing! Been having a right laugh!

You have to understand the role of those behind Progress in all of this. Blairites hating Jeremy Corbyn doesn’t really come into it, it’s more about what they’re instructed to do by their masters. The sole purpose behind the existence of Progress is to maintain control of the Labour Party, and in so doing, continue to uphold privatisation/free markets/unfettered capitalism/neoliberalism. Why else do you suppose such big business as Lord Sainsbury, hedge funds, Pfizer etc, have ‘donated’ such large sums to Progress? That’s Progress, not the Labour Party. People need to wake up and smell the coffee where Progress is concerned.

They have been trying to get rid of Mr. Corbyn since he was NOMINATED!
I should like to know more about so-callèd Progress.

How are we ever going to trust those that return , that they are not working towards another coup.

    • Melanie Wilson October 1, 2016 at 10:42 pm - Reply

I certainly wouldn’t. And given the vast majority are members of Progress, their loyalty is given to masters other than the leadership of the Party. Progress attracts massive funding from big business; they expect a return for their ‘investment’. The Labour Party needs 100% Labour MPs, whose first loyalty is to the Party and not big business backers.
