Powys (home of This Writer) gets it from today. Oh joy.

Still, it’s not as though Mrs Mike and I receive anything like enough to be affected.

The cuts to the overall benefit cap do not all begin today and the implementation is being staggered from today, 7 November until 23 January 2017. Below are the dates for each area and note the DWP…

if we do not get the same amount of benefits, maybe we should pay less tax!

if you do not get enough benefits when you need them, then perhaps it should be looked at why we are paying
NATIONAL INSURANCE which is supposed to be for when we fall ill or are out of work.
and why are we paying MORE council tax for LESS and LESS services.
its time people woke up to all this money we pay for practically nothing in return.its just legalised robbery.
people should be up in arms at whats happening in this country

Mike, any idea how many are affected in your area? I know that Pembs is next week, and so we must both be in counties with relatively “few” (not fewer) households affected, only because we are sparsely populated areas generally, mainly, and housing costs can be quite low. But there will be larger families who are going to be hard hit, and possibly single people, and these are more likely to be those on disability and sickness benefits.

I saw a graph yesterday (can’t find it now, of course) that suggested the government was saying 4,000 Powys households would be affected, but CIH (I’m sure that was the acronym) figures suggested nearly half as many more – 5,800 and change.

Thanks for the Mike I’ll have a look for the CIH fighters as a baseline, I might try a FoI too. There’s no measure we can make of the utter misery being meted out to those with the least resilience and resources, sadly. Our Labour Party collection for the food bank has increased as a result, as people know what is happening. thanks again.

I hope youve seen the mixed news from the Supreme Courtt today, good news for Paul Rutherford and his family at least. Another battle win, we have to keep on fighting.
