For a nation where we have been told that the government is making it more worthwhile to work, well the amount of sanctions have made it impossible for some people out of work, why is it that more benefits are paid to those in work? Could it be that the most vulnerable are having to suffer so the rich can make more profits by underpaying their staff?
I don’t think more benefits are paid to people in work, if you mean the amount they get.
It’s simply that they don’t receive enough, in their regular paycheques, to pay for all their outgoings.
So your last question is right – staff are being underpaid so bosses can take home more, all subsidised by the public.
Even when they come up with good ideas they mess it up. A law to stop people dying in the dentist’s chair means I now have to be treated by the NHS as only they and a very few expensive private dentists can sedate me for fillings.
Also they want me to work, but I don’t dare get a job as if I gave up my benefits I’d never get them back again, so although they want me to get a job, they have made it impossible.
