#ImWithJustinWelby and against Nigel Farage. Who, in their right mind, wouldn’t be?

Last Updated: December 29, 2016By

Windbag: Nigel Farage.

Is anybody else noticing that a backlash seems to be developing against windbags like Nigel Farage who – let’s be honest – are responsible for the godawful mess 2016 turned out to be?

Maybe it’s the time of year, but the silly comments spouted by people who have been elevated beyond their means by the media and/or party political machines – people like Mr Farage or any of the current Tory Cabinet – seem to be getting short shrift from the general public.

It is treatment they have long deserved and the mood change bodes well for 2017.

On the other hand, it may be that I’m getting a skewed result from the media I’m receiving. How does it seem to you?

A social media campaign has been launched to support Archbishop Justin Welby after Nigel Farage attacked his Christmas message. Archbishop Welby, who is the most senior bishop in the Church of England, took to Twitter on Christmas day to share his prayer for the day.

He posted: “Jesus came to us homeless and in a manger. This Christmas, please pray with me for the poor, hungry and homeless, here and abroad.”

While many followers welcomed his message and thanked him for sharing it, the Archbishop’s comments drew sharp criticism from Mr Farage. He tweeted: “Merry Christmas! Ignore all negative messages from the Archbishop of Canterbury and have a great day!”

In response to the exchange, users of the social media site have been sharing their support of Archbishop Welby; tweeting their well wishes with the hashtag #ImWithJustinWelby

I guess we should also ignore all the “Negative” messages from charities asking for money to help the children who are starving around the world because is not what we want to hear?

I am an atheist, but I would support the Archbishop against people like Farage. I only hope that this backlash gains momentum as people like Farage and the Tory Party do not represent the majority of good people.
