Toadying Theresa May has a present for the Trumps: The United Kingdom

Last Updated: January 26, 2017By

Herr Drumpf and the toadying Theresa Mayfly [Composite: PA].

Gosh, how exciting! Theresa May will be the first foreign leader to meet Donald Trump after he became US President – and she’s bringing a nice present for his wife Melania!

Oh, how very Hello! magazine.

Apparently the present is a luxury hamper – a Scottish Quaich (pronounced “quake”) – “packed with English home produce” (English? In a Scottish container? Shurely shome mishtake!), that is intended to lure Herr Drumpf and his mate over here for more Special Relationship fun at Chequers. How could he refuse, after a gift like that?

Meanwhile, Mrs Mayfly will try to lure the President into a closer relationship with a claim that the US and the UK could lead the world.

Does she mean “lead”, or “rule”?

Either way, it’s all very squalid.

Toadying Theresa’s real mission, of course, is to smooth the way for a trade deal between the US and the UK. Herr Drumpf has already indicated interest in fast-tracking such a deal.

This is probably because Mrs May will be giving away British workers’ rights, wages, and quality of life, and selling the National Health Service to American profit-making firms, in perpetuity. That is the real aim of this visit.

Theresa May is to vow to renew the UK’s special relationship with the US “for this new age” as she prepares to meet Donald Trump for the first time.

She travels to Philadelphia later to address Republican leaders at an event attended by the US president.

She will tell them that after Brexit, a “sovereign, global” Britain wants to enhance ties with its “old friends”.

On Friday, Mrs May will be the first world leader to hold face-to-face talks with Mr Trump in the White House.

Post-Brexit trade opportunities, security and intelligence co-operation and the future of Nato are likely to feature significantly in the talks.

No doubt, the people of Northern Ireland and Wales are delighted that none of their produce is included in the sycophantic hamper.

The “Special Relationship” is a myth. America, since the days of George Washington has always acted in its own best interests. Nothing has changed, and grovelling by May will certainly not alter US foreign policy.

And that’s a shame, because grovelling is what she does best.

Do hope after what she and the conservatives said about him (a) she is kept waiting and (b) the negotiations are kept relevant to those comments!

Shouldn’t go bad mouthing people you may have to do business with later!

I wonder if the Scottish hamper is to goad Trump after all the hassles he has had with his golf forays into the country and his losing of a Scottish award due to his xenophobia etc. By the way, quaich is only pronounced “quake” to those who probounce loch “lock”,

Mike, quaich is a ‘low profile, 2 handled ‘communal’ drinking vessel….. a hamper is a hamper andcto be filled with you say ‘English goodies’ and contain the ‘Scottish quaich’ in deference to his mother I suppose. Funny how there’s no mention of Welsh or NI contents…….

Thanks for the information – so Theresa May got that wrong, then. I don’t think anyone should be surprised.
Yes, no mention of Welsh or NI contents, for which some of us are delighted.

When a nation gets a new head especially the most powerful nation in the world all the leaders of the other nations want to be seen with him to be the first is something most people would be falling over themselves to have their nation seen in such a high light , of course there are still a dwindling minority in the UK who think the unelected president, or at least one of them, of the eu should be first.
