Trump vows to restore travel ban suspended by federal judge

US President Donald Trump has vowed to overturn a legal ruling which suspended his ban on travellers from seven mainly Muslim countries.
He described federal judge James Robart as a “so-called” justice whose “ridiculous” opinion “essentially takes law-enforcement away from” the US.
Judge Robart ruled on Friday there were grounds to challenge the ban.
“The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!” Mr Trump said on Twitter.
Twitter has, as usual, been scathing in response:

I’m not sure how the Judge ruled the way he did as there are previous examples of the same type of exclusion orders being made in the US. What law did he use?
More of the same from Trump. “There is a terrible problem with (fill in the blanks) threatening the population, and I am the answer. Would-be dictators always manufacture crises and then stand up as the people’s “saviour.”
I’m beginning to think that methods of communication including propaganda, indoctrination and mind control should be a compulsory subject in schools so it can be recognised when it rears its very ugly head.

Jeremy *Unt until very recently ran a company producing education materials and we know he’s an arch propagandist.
Years ago when I was doing my teacher training we were shown in the child psychology course how various teaching methods amounted to ‘indoctrination’ or ‘conditioning’ instead of education with critical thought processes included. This was what I had in mind.
I can see your point about resources, especially as the subject of History has a bad record for resources giving a slanted viewpoint for instance in the history of the British Empire, and especially in the US over slavery, but I think you have to trust the teaching profession at some point to do the right thing on the whole, like we trust doctors and other professionals. There are checks and balances in the system with LEA, OFSTEd and Diocesan inspections in schools.
Certainly in society today there is a vast mass of people who simply do not recognise propaganda and never check out information for themselves. It’s one reason why the Daily Mail and Sun newspapers do so well.

What you said about critical thinking is exactly right; there is very little. I have said, for many years, we have become a nation of sleepwalkers but the people do not realise that they are being fed sleeping pills. There is no time for analysis, observation, research, reason, consideration; everything must happen now, we are all becoming reactionaries and Donald Trump is a textbook example of this. My question is, how is it that a man of his age and experience is behaving like a teenager, in this regard?
