Huge London protest against US travel ban

Last Updated: February 5, 2017By

Tens of thousands of demonstrators [This Writer heard it was 40,000 – way to go, London!] gathered outside the US embassy in Mayfair at 11am to hear speeches, before marching to 10 Downing Street.

Kevin Courtney, general secretary of the National Union of Teachers, told us he believed teachers had a duty to join the movement to oppose Trump.

Dawn Butler, the MP for Brent Central, told the crowds that Theresa May needed to “understand the responsibility” of the UK’s relationship with the US.

David Rosenberg, leader of the Jewish Socialist Group, said they were there “to express our complete solidarity with Muslims threatened and victimised by Trump”.

In a video message from Jeremy Corbyn, he said Theresa May was “on the wrong side of history”.

not much of a turn out for a city the size of London, although it won’t achieve a thing.

And where does Saudi Arabia fit into the travel ban? It’s almost as if there’s something about the oil rich kingdom that makes it different to, say, Somalia…

Good, honest high quality intelligence is better than blanket travel bans.Good, honest high quality intelligence services need a lot of investment in terms of money, high quality training, loyalty etc rather than never ending austerity and racism{racial profiling at airports, railway stations and illegal intrusive surveillance of blacks and Asians(fare paying passengers) etc}.
