More Trump lies: He still benefits from his businesses – and in legally questionable ways

Donald Trump lied when he said he was fully divesting himself of his business interests – that much is clear. How does America feel about having a liar as president? Is it bringing back memories of Nixon?

It seems he is also benefiting illegally, as the licence for the Trump Organisation’s hotel in the old Post Office in Washington DC forbids an elected official from taking payments related to the building.

Meanwhile, Herr Drumpf continues to generate a lot of sound and fury over his travel ban.

Do you think he might be trying to divert attention away from his own lawbreaking?

Donald Trump maintains direct ties to his corporate empire whilst he is President, according to new documents which show he is the sole beneficiary of a revocable trust run by his children and a longtime executive.

The Donald J Trump Revocable Trust is tied to the President’s social security number as the taxpayer identification number, according to documents published by investigative nonprofit ProPublica. The trust is run by his two eldest sons and the Trump Organisation chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg.

The trust holds an alcohol licence for the Trump Organisation’s new hotel in the old Post Office in Washington DC. Yet a provision in that lease, signed in 2013, prohibits an elected official from benefiting from the federally owned building.

[Mr Trump has said] that he was fully divesting from his businesses even though he could run the country and his businesses “perfectly” as President. At the press conference, he pointed to a large pile of papers to prove he was stepping away from his empire.

The papers were later discovered to be blank and were used as a prop for the speech.

They have had liars for ages. What is news about that? All this concern about a President who has yet to achieve even 5% of the speciousness the others before him inculcated.
Stop being so inflammatory otherwise we might just feel you have an agenda here for the Globalists

I can’t help what you feel.
I wonder why you want to defend Herr Drumpf, though.

Neither can I your feelings – I can merely make sober observations.

I have no particular bias towards him or any other but your use of “Herr Drumpf” lacks much in respect of giving a non elite, or at least one who is not born and bred to the school of past years, at least respect for his bedding in period.
That the DC establishment whips up its acolytes to try bruising him at best and destablizing, less best is indication that a wild card has entered their temple. Certainly not one of them, although he carries the red ticket.
There are certainly far, far worse criminals acting as Prez before him so for that matter alone I will not climb the silly bandwagon of cartoon lambast.
I respect your national posts and your offerings are salutatory and useful. When you however comment on the international stage you really do sound like many of the blind, ‘bought’ ignorance protesting so loud and ‘butt sore’ at results.
You are not them but the “Sun” type wordplay mockery does not do your otherwise sound appraisals any favours.
These politicos and newbie politicos are well able to dig their own grave, yet Trump’s usurping of the DC and dual national elite has presently placed a rather large spanner in their empire’s plans.

It will be interesting how this power struggle will play out.

Donald Trump is, of course, a member of America’s ruling elite and has been for years. He is a powerful and privileged businessman. You think big business doesn’t have a say in government?
It isn’t the DC establishment whipping up action against him. His own decisions are responsible for that. The public across the world would not have bothered to demonstrate against him otherwise.
It is a false argument to compare him with other presidents and say some were far worse. Two wrongs don’t make a right. And Mr Trump has been in office for a matter of days.
Thank you for your respect with regard to my articles on domestic issues. I think it is a shame that your own personal opinions make you unable to appreciate my work on foreign affairs.

Trump isn’t generating any sound and fury over his travel ban that is the mass media and people who would oppose anything he does even if it was a 100% tax rebate they would claim it was something else.

I think his Twitter feed suggests otherwise.
