Chancellor is an ‘economic illiterate’, claims pro-Brexit economist – to nobody’s surprise

This is just for future reference.

We all know Philip Hammond is economically illiterate – we saw his Autumn Statement last year – but it’s worth having a little evidence to prove it, so nobody can claim otherwise when his schemes crash and burn.

And they will.

The chancellor, Philip Hammond, has been described as “economically illiterate” by the head of a group of economists lobbying for the UK to ditch tariffs and embrace free trade after Brexit.

Patrick Minford, an economics professor at Cardiff University, said Hammond and other politicians risked setting the UK on a course of serious self harm if they pushed for a trade deal with the EU that put customs charges on goods and services imported to the country.

A prime example of what millions of pounds, but very little brain power, can get you. What a pair of odious specimens.

Boris again looks entirely clueless in the picture. What a moron to be Foreign Secretary for the UK.

Well let’s be honest about this when was the last time we had a chancellor who was an expert in economics, what they do is employ people who supposedly know what they are doing as permanent civil servants and they do the maths and present the ideas to the chancellor. One would consider that they are possibly more astute than a Professor of economics when it comes to applied economics rather than theoretical economics.
