The facts that show Universal Credit is a costly waste of resources that should be trashed

Last Updated: March 26, 2017By

Persuasive evidence from SPeye Joe:

Universal Credit can’t work, never could and never will. It has to be abandoned.

The policy is incompetence writ large, an ideological farrago from the dangerous mind of Iain Duncan Smith who took the simple hypothesis of let’s make ‘welfare’ a one-stop shop and ran with it and promoted it at every turn despite the facts that:

(a) Universal Credits design totally forgot all forms of supported housing in its development, and

(b) UC forgot the non take-up rates of ‘welfare’ that means Universal Credit will pay out over £30 billion per year more, and

(c) It is far more complex than the legacy welfare benefit system it sought to simplify, and

(d) It is at least 5 years over time and at least £3 billion over budget and despite Iain Duncan Smith saying at every turn that Universal Credit is on time and on budget.

it is a ids idea but there were also advisors of this policy who reputation is not exactly great, the issue that we all know this is a big white elephant hat is not going to work properly is obvious to everyone except the dwp and ultimately the government who are going to do exactly what they normally do when they screw up, carry on without no responsibility and pretend that life is normal, that is where policy fails when you employ idiots and let them carry on then you lie in the bed that you make, do they ever learn, I let you be the judge of that, look at all the ministers we currently have and ask yourself one question, would you trust them?

I don’t think it was designed to work the way we were lead to believe, but it has been a complete success if you look at it being there to save the government every penny it could get from the most vulnerable.

Just as well that Yvette Cooper and Andy Burnham left IDS the legacy of ESA and the WCA. Otherwise it and PIP might have been delayed by another 5 years and been too cr*p to roll out too.

Never forget. But never forgive too.
