Corbyn loses his cool – but he’s right to tell ITV News it isn’t doing its job

Last Updated: April 5, 2017By

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn turned the tables on an ITV News reporter – and reminded him that it is the news media’s responsibility “to make sure that the opposition voice is heard as well as the government’s voice”.

The reporter was trying to use the latest dire predictions that Labour could lose seats in the May local government elections as another excuse to suggest that Mr Corbyn should quit as leader of the party.

But it seems Mr Corbyn has been reading the social media. This Site reported on the right-wing media news blackout on Labour activities only yesterday – and that was in response to another blog’s article. It seems to have struck a nerve with the reading public and Mr Corbyn picked up on that.

Here’s his response:

He said: “You’re obsessed with this question, if I may say so – utterly obsessed with it.

“We have a very strong opposition in Britain – if you bothered to report what we were doing.

“If you bothered to report what Jon Ashworth is doing on the health service, if you bothered to report what Angela Rayner is doing and saying on schools. If you bothered to report what the Labour Party is actually saying.

“It’s your responsibility to make sure that the opposition voice is heard as well as the government’s voice. It’s your failings.”

Those are the facts of the matter. Feel free to share this article with anyone who tries to talk Labour down.

And so the media have already tried to turn this as a negative story for corbyn! Saying he’s under pressure and loosing his cool because of the polls! There are too many dumb voters that just believe whatever is reported so it’s a no win for corbyn, especially as there are so many of his back benches not supporting his vision! It’s so annoying as corbyn is the only one as far as I can see doing the right thing by us!

Great response…..the right wing media is now so biased in the UK it feels like we have become an opposite branch of the US where all things media are democratic.
It would be good if these owned publications and media did their job as independants not slaves of their owners voices. However no excuse for the BBC being biased their existance is dependant on the licence fee payers and apart from their own survival should have no allegiance to this Government.
