Theresa May has actually announced a policy! And it’s rubbish.
Perhaps Theresa May felt bullied into announcing a housing policy – after all, Labour has promised a million new homes over the next five years, if the party is elected into government, half to be social housing.
But her promise to increase the number of homes for social rent fell flat on its perfumed posterior when we all realised she’ll put no money into it.
She can’t even confirm how many new builds are likely to take place under her haphazard and cack-handed scheme.
And this is the woman who says Labour doesn’t have a leader?
Let’s put this in context:

If Labour wouldn’t get away with it, there’s no reason Tory May should.
The Conservatives will increase the number of homes for social rent with a new right-to-buy scheme, Theresa May has announced.
Ministers have since confirmed no new money will be spent on the scheme, which will be funded through cash promised in last year’s Autumn Statement.

Didn’t call me Dave, try to get rid of social housing and wasn’t there something people on benefits could not now rent from social housing association?
Can’t see any corporate buiding company diverting its resources from its current greed filled feeding frenzy building private housing (very slowly to keep prices sky high) to erect inferior mass produced social housing with little margins.. If the Cons had not peed off the Housing Associations and just let them carry on their good work then there would be a lot more activity from what was usually well managed productive associations. Councils have got no cash to build with and every private sale proceed will disappear into their slush buckets to appease their Con mates.
She’s not got a clue….it will never happen…. the councils and private landlords want the plebs out of the cities so they can make lots of dosh renting to the higher wage earners.

Yes they do. Your questions are silly – and don’t take account of what was actually said: One million over the five-year Parliamentary term.
There are plenty of builders in the UK, and building work adds the most value to the economy.
And there are plenty of sites already allocated.
