The Tory social care asset-grab explained

Last Updated: May 19, 2017By

Most of what you need to know is in the infographic. Bear in mind that 52 per cent of us face home repossession if Theresa May and her Tory cronies are allowed to enact this policy.

It could be the biggest asset grab in UK history. Don’t give them the chance.

Vote Labour on June 8.

The Tories get their greedy, selfish and corrupt hands on your property so that they can give themselves and their millionaire friends more tax cuts.

Expect to hear the number of (Mainly tory) MP’s opening their own private care homes (To complement their senior positions & shareholdings in healthcare insurance companies) to increase exponentially – IF they get in again…

Unlimited maximum charge would be the killer small print for me. I can smell that Hunt already rubbing his hands opening up another income stream with unlimited private financial opportunities. At the moment there are some restrictions on costings by local authorities subsidised by private patient intake costings which sounds like it will now become a free for all feeding frenzy promoted by those lovely nice Tory people. Vote Labour this could be your last chance to save yourself.

my mother works in the industry albeit she works for a temp agency and from what she says they are already taking old ppls homes to pay for care.

It’s all part of the tories trying to get rid of the woeful statistic that their last two governments have seen people worse off than when they took over Govt., plus the younger generations being worse off than their parents were.

Once the familets have been hit with the care payments after their parent(s)’ demise, they’ll ‘massage’ the statistics to try and say that they were only worth £100k at time of death…

Thing is, a lot of the people I know who are around my age won’t even be worth £100k when their time comes :(

The Cons latest manifesto, attacking/removing existing Gov payments is proof positive that this Government does not give a stuff for promises and is totally untrustworthy.. The Cons increasing the current cash level to £100k was plucked out of the air by their backroom spivs to soften the blow and keep their lemming voters happy. I can guarantee it is only to get them back in power for another session after which you can guarantee the figure will be reviewed and reduced back down again or worst taken away completely. . However this will only happen if you vote for more Con pleb bashing or you can vote Labour but you will need to
turn out……and don’t moan about your standard of living if they get in again or you did not make the effort..

Even more disturbing are the promises made to the insurance industry. You will need to take out an insurance product to pay your fees before your death. The premiums for this can be added to your debt and will be uncapped therefore it is quite possible that you will leave nothing since the £100k will be taken for the premiums. Also imagine how much Capita, PWC etc are going to make setting up the schemes and administration and complex accounting systems for this. Imagine how much profit the care providers can suddenly make – it is so corrupt it is making my eyes bleed.

The UK Tory Oligarchy are an evil bunch of lying misanthropes – they just don’t care, and they don’t even care that we know they don’t care!

What about people having to sell their homes to pay for residential social care which has been going on for years, Mike. Is Labour going to do anything about that? Or is the party committed to allowing this travesty to go on indefinitely despite saying it would stop it pre-1997 and failed to do so for the thirteen years Labour was in power under Blair and Brown?

Haven’t you read the manifesto? Labour would create a National Care Service, which will be built alongside the NHS, with a shared requirement for single commissioning, partnership arrangements, pooled budgets and joint working arrangements – in its first years, the service will require an additional £3 billion of public funds every year, enough to place a maximum limit on lifetime personal contributions to care costs, raise the asset threshold below which people are entitled to state support, and provide free end of life care.
