‘Battle for Number 10’? More of a rout as Theresa May falls apart under questioning

Last Updated: May 30, 2017By

It could be Theresa May’s political epitaph: “A blowhard who collapses at the first sign of gunfire”.

This Writer would also suggest that we all prepare for a wave of James Bond-style memes, with our super-spy facing off against the evil organisation T.O.R.Y. and it’s leader, Blowhard.

It was a terrific moment:

And the responses were great:

But it wasn’t the only highlight. Let’s have a look at Mrs May defending herself over the NHS:

Around 35 seconds into that clip, you can see one audience member giving his own, very personalised opinion of Mrs May’s response:

Amazingly, Mrs May still managed to have at least one supporter in the studio audience at the end of the show – although his enthusiasm wilted when he realised he was the only one. Note also the message on the tweet:

This was how, I’m sure, the majority responded to Mrs May’s segment:

The Twitterati responded in the only way they really could:

What about Jeremy Corbyn? Here are some of his highlights:

Here’s the knockout:

And who won the victory? It was never really in doubt:

It is now the morning after.

Watch the other Tories start positioning themselves to take over as leader if Mrs May loses.

Oh dear, Mrs.May looks more like the leader of the Labour Party in her red suit.

Quite a few people have noticed this. Perhaps its her “Power” colour, its the second time she’s worn red for important televised interviews.
Is her blue suit in the cleaners?

Even if she does scrape through she will be replaced ASAP rumour has it. John Prescott tweeted a conversation he had with a tory grandee who siad May & her manifesto were a disaster. There is hardly anyone in cabinett who actually like her.

She was pushed forward to carry the can for shite Brexit while others keep their powder dry. This is going to piss Dacre off though, because he wanted to make May his Thatcher like his predecessor before him.

May looked out of her depth, which she almost certainly was, because she is just an over-ambitious but not very capable politician who has only her own career at heart and not the people of Britain. This illustrates clearly why she avoids any contact with the public.

On the other hand Jeremy looked cool, calm and collected and a real leader. He is a man who does have the country and the people at heart. JC4PM.

Glad I’m not the only one who was thinking Blofeld, when blowhard was mentioned!
Not sure about T.O.R.Y, more like S.P.E.C.T.A.C.L.E ? She was certainly making THAT of herself!
    (A Clueless Leader & Enemy)?
Sorry, I couldn’t think of what the rest could stand for!
How am I doing Mike? :-)

Pretty good show. Good to see they had the usual rent-tory-clappers on board including one muppet standing on his own at the end…. did not look like her husband maybe her agent. Still she comes over as a compulsive liar pompous and arrogant and could not give a stuff about the plebs plight. Paxman has lost his mojo.

There are only 4 hours left of the poll; I’ve not seen the interview, yet and won’t get to , before the deadline. Will you publish the final result?

To be honest, I didn’t think May performed *that* badly last night. She’s certainly done worse things during the election campaign so far; while Michael Fallon has clearly done FAR worse things during the campaign.

But even so, May was noticeably brittle and stammery early on, gaffed several times, including admitting that she was against Brexit before, and for Brexit now, but insisting she hadn’t changed her mind (!), and did look very badly hit by the ‘blow-hard’ reference. She did improve towards the end, but overall, she clearly came off worse than Corbyn, and that must be a big worry for the Tories, given the questions she faced weren’t as tough. Had Paxman asked her about, say, her record as Home Secretary, or the butchery of the NHS by Jeremy Hunt, she would probably have folded completely.

Pity it didn’t happen, it would have proven the ‘blow-hard’ accusation handsomely.
