Jeremy Corbyn mocks May’s ‘coalition of chaos’ in first speech of new Parliament

Last Updated: June 13, 2017By

Mr Corbyn delivering his speech.

This needs to be seen, enjoyed, savoured.

Jeremy Corbyn, in his first Parliamentary speech after the general election, took glee in turning Theresa May’s own soundbites back on her.

He said he hoped Mrs May would agree that “democracy is a wonderful thing”, and “can throw up unexpected results”. He said he looks forward to the Queen’s Speech – when the “coalition of chaos” is ready. If it cannot form a government, the Labour party is ready to provide “strong and stable” government, he said.

She took it quite well, in fairness.

Apparently her talks with the DUP are proceeding favourably and she is looking forward to working with a political party that is even more insanely right-wing than her own.

I’m not keen on the silly theatrics of the House of Commons, as you well know. However, I was somewhat heartened to notice an awful lot more partizan noise coming from the Labour benches than from the Tory ones all of a sudden. The Tories all looked and sounded nervous and half-hearted.

If we have to have the hooting and hollering, far better Labour hurls it at the Tories rather than at their own leader.

Yes her gurning arrogant gothcha face was not there today and her long line of cab colleagues looked very staid with none of the arrogance on their faces for once. Yes JC’s turn was long overdue and he deserved it along with for once a robust chorus of backers not heard for a very long time. Good to hear the party back strong and in good voice.
