The facts show you can’t trust the Tories to tackle crime
Theresa May and the Tories lied through their teeth about the crime rate, to justify the huge cuts to police numbers.
That is the fact behind the latest release of police-recorded crime figures by the Office of National Statistics (ONS).
Here’s a quick summary, courtesy of the BBC and our friends at EL4JC:

Compare this with what – for example – David Davis claimed on the BBC’s Question Time, back on May 4. He said:
In the same programme, Labour’s Rebecca Long-Bailey contradicted him:
Who was right? Rebecca Long-Bailey.
At least, she was closest. Mr Davis’ figures were out of date, and he was quoting them in an attempt to hoodwink the general public.
Ms Long-Bailey, it turns out, was just one percentage point out. Violent crime increased by 18 per cent in the year to March 2016, according to the most recent police recorded crime figures.
It is important to use the recent figures, rather than the trend figures, because of the carnage wreaked by the Tories – and especially Theresa May in her role as Home Secretary – in recent years. We need to look at the effects of their cuts and tinkering.
Remember, it was in 2015 that she was warned – by the Police Federation, no less – that her cuts would be dangerous:

She said they were “scaremongering”:
And then this year – after the Manchester bombing, and faced with the fact that she had cut the number of armed police by 1,337 – Mrs May had to put the army on British streets to deal with the emergency.
She had cut police numbers to a level that endangered the people she wanted to vote for her.
And, take note, these new forces were deployed only to protect the Royals, the government and foreign ambassadors – not the British people.
Now we see that her cuts have endangered us all far more than we originally suspected, with crime up across the board.
Police numbers have fallen for eight consecutive years, by more than 20,000:
And police recorded crime has increased every year since 2014 – showing that Theresa May was lying when she told police they were “scaremongering”, and so was David Davis on Question Time.
You can’t trust Tories to keep you safe.
You can only trust them to use power to line their own pockets and leave you at the mercy of the criminals.

But you’ve got to be a liar to be a Tory, the better liar that you are the higher up the Tory hierarchy you go.
This is true. But most politicians are liars. In fact jeremy corbyn strikes me as the first honest politicIan I have seen in my life. At 62 years old that is a very sad statement to make.
Or delusional
It’s not just the police cuts for which this should be blamed on the Tories. I am in no way accusing anyone here but I would think that all the benefit cuts and sanctions must have driven several desperate people to crimes they would never normally have contemplated, simply to survive and feed their kids. Food banks aren’t as readily available as Tories and their voters try to make out.
Our local force was caught out in an audit of not recording crime and looking for any excuse to file their papers. At the time I put this down to lazy recording,or to busy to record incidents because of cut backs however upon reflection the Cons message was we don’t need more police look how well we are doing with the reduced numbers on the force. All part of their usual longer term Con tricks. Like every severe cut back on any public service the day to day game cruises along but falls apart the moment one gets a major crisis or event like the tower block fire. Suddenly all the accumulated cut back effects suddenly surface for all to see what has happened and the real impact and worse the vulnerability on the state of affairs in the UK.
The only laws Tories care about are those which affect them personally.
