Over this financial year (2013-14) we shall see the terrible effects of all the benefit changes. But the worst may be yet to come. As some people are now pointing out there is a massive difference between the official inflation figure and the actual inflation experienced by the poorest (workers and non-workers). Even without a limit of 1% on benefit increases, the very high real inflation will cut ever deeper into people’s living costs.
