Your right its become very hard to continue to support Labour.I come from a family of Socialists but I can’t see anything Socialist about the Labour party anymore.Indeed,I feel we as a nation have reached a cross roads where we need to to change how our country is run. The people need to take this country out of the 20th century politics of “Im alright Jack” no matter what party you support into a brave new world of total people power where we all contribute to a political party free state. A new way of making this country great again where nobody is left behind and we can proudly say we are a classless society and not split between the elitist and the dispossessed.Impossible?..well anything is better than what we have to put up with now…and that is desperation..

I’ve had a response to this on Twitter saying that the article is simplistic and takes no account of Realpolitik.
I replied that Labour’s bigwigs need to see it – because it reflects popular feeling.

Realpolitik? Who cares about realpolitik when the issue is this important? You know when f***ing Miliband goes on (and on and on… because it’s his only real angle of attack) about the drop in real wages? Remind him of this – he is committing to making the already destitute even worse off.

Miliband is a disgusting example of humanity and the day Labour voters realise this and that the party is no longer their party will be a fine day in British politics.

Labour are essentially Tories where it matters but they’re still more than happy to sit back and accept the votes of left wingers. They need a shock, a big one.

I’ve been advocating and encouraging Labour voters withholding their votes until they become something like a real Labour party, they won’t change if you keep rewarding them at the ballot box.

Get on social media, tell your Labour friends to email their local Labour MP/candidate with a simple message – we’ve had enough, no more votes. Let them be in no doubt that it is genuine and unless things change before the election, we’re staying home to watch it on telly.

Don’t let Miliband’s neoliberal crew be the end of the party, because that’s what it will come to, and soon.

Vote Green unless Labour take a turn to the left.

I hate the Tories, despise the Lib Dems, don’t trust Labour, think UKIP is far right, and parties like the TUSC and Left Unity and even the Greens are too small and a waste of a vote. And of course the BNP are racist and evil. Who to vote for I wonder?

    • david March 27, 2014 at 8:14 pm - Reply

waste of a vote because they’re too small??? You loose me. A party is only as small as those willing to put their neck on the line and stand for election. A party is only as small as the people willing to vote for them. Those that moan about small parties being a waste of a vote put your name forward to stand. TUSC are standing 400+ candidates at local elections this year, For every extra person willing to stand the effectiveness of a TUSC vote will grow. The same for the greens and Left Unity.

Self-fulfilling prophecy. No-one is convinced the smaller parties can win so no-one votes for them. No-one votes for them so they stay too small to win anything and so it goes… A better election system and state funded campaigns would improve things.

Our voting system means a party needs over 20% of the votes to get even one seat. In the 1980s the Greens got 25% of the votes-and no seats.

The article is simplistic, but probably does portray just how let down many former Labour party voters are now feeling. Always amazed at just how many people describe themselves as socialists. Well, so am I, if you really have socialist leanings, then join the Socialist party! There is a substantial left wing group embedded within the Labour party, they work damned hard in their attempts to stem the tide of Blair induced political slipping and sliding.
