Bone thrown to the expenses investigators

Tory right-whinger Peter Bone is the latest MP to face questions over his expenses.
The inquiry will focus on expenses relating to the upkeep of his second home between 2005 and 2009. As such, the investigation will be carried out using the system that was in place before it was reformed after a string of scandals in 2009.
Both George Osborne and Maria Miller had their expenses examined under this system, so we can expect Bone to get away with any wrongdoing as well.
From evidence that has emerged in the Osborne and Miller investigations, it is clear that the pre-2009 investigation system was completely useless except as a way of whitewashing MPs’ reputations.
Of course, Bone is a frequent contributor to Prime Minister’s Questions, where he often claims to have been prompted into making a query by his wife.
In the unlikely event that he is found guilty of a misdemeanour, will he be blaming that on Mrs Bone as well?

Surely whatever monkey business Mrs. Bone’s husband Peter gets up to, no matter how bad, he will always be innocent by reason of insanity?

Mike, it’s not clear in your article but I think that Bone’s local council and Police have investigated this and found that from a criminal law aspect there’s not enough ‘evidence’ (the CPS says) to charge him – even though they’ve been pursuing him for years. This was dropped by them about a month ago.

I heard it on BBC radio Mike, so it must be true. It was of interest to me because every year I have to fill in a Council questionnaire on my Mother’s behalf (I hold power of attorney) as to how much she has earned in Gazprom deals and the like over the past 12 months (as if: – bedridden with dementia aged 94). The reasoning of course being that if she has suddenly become rich (lottery win?) and it shows in her bank balance – she then becomes liable to pay more towards her monthly fees at the care home. At present, the Council takes all of her pension receipts (fair enough) and they pay the remainder. I’m not sure of the details of Bone’s case but I think it stemmed from the sale of his mother’s home before she went into care and where the equity went. I don’t think they could trace it. His local paper may have more details.
