Let’s give these Kippers a chance to come clean

Farage: The UKIP leader voted against an EU motion for laws to end marital rape in 2006 – now that such a law is going through the Welsh Assembly, would he hypocritically support it?

Back in 2006, UKIP’s then-Members of the European Parliament voted against a resolution calling on member states to legislate against violence on women, including marital rape.

According to at least one UKIP supporter, this was done “simply because of their opposition to the EU and all its works”.

How unfortunate for UKIP, to be seen to support the continuation of domestic violence – including marital rape – simply because the idea of making laws against it was put forward by the wrong people.

That isn’t statesmanlike – it’s childish.

Now a UK legislature has taken forward the ideas in that EU resolution; the Gender-based Violence, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Bill aims to end domestic abuse, gender-based violence and sexual violence.

What a pity UKIP has no Assembly members!

If it did, the party could clarify its position – although this is not without its drawbacks.

If UKIP still opposes such legislation, then we will all know that the party supports a loathsome philosophy – that it is all right to commit physical and sexual abuse against a partner in the home.

If UKIP now supports it, we will all know that it is a party of hypocrites who would think nothing of allowing such abuse to continue, in order to push forward its own agenda.

Without Assembly members voting on the proposed Welsh law, UKIP does not need to clarify its position – but that lets Mr Farage and his friends off the hook far too easily.

Isn’t it time UKIP clarified exactly where it stands on this issue – so we can all be sure to despise that party for the right reason?

(The above article has been sent in letter form to the major national newspapers and the BBC. Let’s see if the mass media can do their job.)

(Note to any readers who are getting bored of all this concentration on UKIP: I promise I’ll write about something else tomorrow.)

One might also take the opportunity to ask the toad party about their stance on TTIP

Nigel has averred that he will not oppose it on.

Yet its provisions are more supra-national that than those of the EU

Which would leave one to believe that Nigel likes supra-national organisations from North America, but not more locally organised ones

A bit janus-faced to say the least

Well UKIP opposes everything tat comes out of the eussr so as usual the anti kippers are trying to pretend that they are in favour of things they are not. Get real people the uncontrolled eussr steamroller will carry on battering our once proud nation until it becomes like the rest of it a third world dictatorship completely ruled by unelected political failures like Barosso and junker.

I’m not trying to pretend UKIP is in favour of anything it isn’t – I’m judging a political party by its voting record. Kippers have made claims about this particular vote; now the party has a chance to show whether those claims are true or not. “EUSSR” is a fascist phrase that has been picked up by UKIP members, who either use it without realising that it allies them with the Mussolinis and Hitlers of the past, or do so because they agree with the correlation.
          Which is it?

      • Barry July 21, 2014 at 4:48 pm - Reply

Actually the ussr were fighting hitler and mussolini, had they not we would be talking german. the eussr is like the original a far left communist body that helps a few to the detriment of the majority, and steamrollers through the madcap ideas with no thought for the genuine concerns of the people.

        • Mike Sivier July 21, 2014 at 5:03 pm - Reply

‘EUSSR’ is a term used by Fascists to describe the European Union – I would imagine for precisely the reasons you invoke.
I have also seen arguments that the EU is how the Nazis managed to win World War II, so it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other in my opinion.
By the way, Communism – proper Communism – NEVER helps a few to the detriment of the many. Quite the opposite. If you are thinking of the few states that have declared themselves Communist in the past, well, the USSR was never Communist as power remained with an elite few, not the many – as in the West. Likewise with China. Look at North Korea – same. They’re your old-style empires – nothing Communist about them at all.

UKIP really are a bunch of complete morons. What is even more worrying is the proportion of the UK population support their moronic policies. God help us if this is what the UK has become.

More importantly how do we stop them?

    • Barry July 21, 2014 at 8:24 am - Reply

Anti kippers are a bunch of sheeple who believe the pro eussr propaganda, they need to be stopped before we become an insignificant state of the corruption ridden anti democratic dictatorship of the eussr, God help us if we continue to go down the federalist europhile route the dumb clucks will destroy everything good this nation has ever achieved with their moronic idiocy.

If any of you are wondering why your right arms are twitching towards making mock-Nazi salutes, it’s because the style of language put out by Barry here is so similar to the great monsters of long ago. Note that there is no attempt to back up the claims with any evidence. ‘EUSSR’ is a fascist phrase that has been appropriated by UKIP without any irony at all.

      • Barry July 21, 2014 at 4:52 pm - Reply

Oh dear what a crass and stupid statement it is the monsters of the original ussr that are being emulated by the unelected failed politicians who are running our country from brussells, I find your crass comments about fascia really stupid, after all it is the coalition with the backing of the labour party that is trying to sell off the nhs and cutting much needed benefits for the sick needy and disabled, the same group that Hitler started to kill first before he started on the Jews so lets have a modicum of common sense instead of your pathetic smear campaign against the only hope this nation has.

        • Mike Sivier July 21, 2014 at 5:08 pm - Reply

Approved for the sheer enjoyment readers can have, pulling apart the unsubstantiated statements in the above nonsense. “Unelected failed politicians who are running our country from Brussels”? Everyone in the EU Parliament has been elected democratically – perhaps you’re thinking of the UK government, Barry? They run our country from London.
“It is the Coalition with the backing of the Labour Party that is trying to sell off the NHS”? Show me where Labour has been cheerleading for the Coalition in this endeavour.
… And so on. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so misguided.
In fact, there IS a word that covers it:

          Hysterical.

Mike comments on the double-bind UKIP are in for opposing the EU legislation against marital rape with the Welsh government considering similar legislation. If UKIP continue to oppose such laws, then they’re vile misogynists who condone violence against women. If they now oppose it, it shows that UKIP were in favour of letting it continue in Europe, simply to further their own anti-EU agenda. And just to show you how weird and antiquated their opposition to such legislation is, marital rape was a crime in Anglo-Saxon England. See the book, Women in Anglo-Saxon England. It’s also such an appalling crime, that the actor Ross Kemp flatly refused to do a scene in Eastenders where his character, a man traumatised by his experiences in the Falklands, rapes his wife. I have to say I don’t watch Deadenders, because it just seems to me to be one long litany of misery, violence and criminality, of grotesque, horrible people doing grotesque, horrible things. But when one of the actors playing these grotesque horrors shows there’s a line he’s not willing to cross which the Kippers have gleefully leapt through, you know the Kippers have absolutely no claims to the moral high ground.

The phrase had its origins in a pamphlet ‘Common Market Suicide’ by AK Chesterton (Also author of a small tract ‘Creed of a Fascist Revolutionary’)

Chesterton’s theories were vindicated (according to Mark Ewell, writing in ‘Candour’, of Oct 1983) when the old Soviet Union ‘appealed to the E.E.C.’s own Court of Justice over an anti-dumping action taken against it by the Commmission’
Until then, the Soviet UnNion (according to the writer) had not recognised the ‘Common Market’ as a legal entity. Arguing thatthe extension of the community eastwards was ‘the common policy of those malevolent political twins, Political and Economic Planning and Chatham House’ who envisaged ‘the extension of the E.E.C. to embrace the Soviet Union and its satellites’.

Candour also coined the slogan ‘Supporting European Union is treason’ Pamphlet advertised in Candour October 1984)

    The League of Empire Loyalists (who published Candour),, an offshoot of the B.U.F. was fond of smears and insinuations about Europe, one poem of theirs containing the verse;
“Yet captive now is England, Her neck beneath their heel/ Who won with words an England/ They could not win with steel”

You will probably have heard that line from a kipper apologist too

    • Anthony July 27, 2014 at 11:14 am - Reply

The League of Empire Loyalists was NOT an offshoot of the B.U.F.

A.K. Chesterton left the BUF in 1938. He formed the L.E.L. in 1954. They were completely different organisations.

      • jess July 27, 2014 at 3:34 pm - Reply

“We now have available a fresh supply of this very popular title written by A.K. when he was a leading member of the British Union of Fascists & National Socialists, in the 1930’s [Advert in Candour, 1997, Vol 70]

Chesterton supposedly broke with Moseley over his ‘European’ leanings. Just in time to avoid the charges of treason Moseley was tainted by. [Lobster 46]

He then associated with Vicount Lymiington and a group of organisation further to the right of Moeley (loosely the New Pioneer group) [Ideology of thee British Right; App]

Chesterton founded Candour in 1953, and the League of Empire Loyalists with the help of a cheque for £1,000 from ‘an Englishman living in Chile’ [Chesterton, ‘Our Fifteenth Year’, Candour Dec 1967]

The key disagreement between Chesterton and Moseley in the 1950’s was over Europe. Mosely favoured closer association whilst Chesterton opted for ‘The Empire’ hence the name.
“In November 1953 Candour made its first appearance…Every line of its eight columns was devoted to sounding the alarm about the conspiracy to destroy Britain’s power overseas, and with it the hegemony of the British world system. No punches were pulled”

        In the words of one commentator;
“The LEL…served as the most important training ground for the next generation of British neo-fascists and extreme loyalists” [Lobster 46]

The tread of continuity between the BUF and the LEL is Chesterton. Chesterton, alos, just for good measure, claimed that he was responsible for the merger of neo-nazis that formed the National Front.

Why not ask the many female UKIP MEPs and PPCs what their opinion is of UKIPs policies on assaults on women? Your reticence to do so rather than sound off as you have leaves me wondering precisely how you view women yourself. You sound very much like Guardian staff who call actresses, “actors”. You would prefer to see reference to the feminine gender replaced exclusively by terminology that allows them to be subsumed by male adjectives. The Guardian however did slip up 10 days ago in their Saturday edition when the remarkably beautiful Anne Adams (have I objectified her? ) was described in a headline as “actress”. I, for one, hope that she demanded to be described in that way. Viva actresses! – otherwise how would Ms Adams be eligible for ‘best actress’ award at the Oscars?

    • Mike Sivier July 22, 2014 at 1:12 pm - Reply

I don’t mind which member of UKIP responds to this challenge, as long as they are in a position to speak for the party as a whole.
