So the Scottish Labour Party has elected arch-Blairite and Friend of Israel, Jim Murphy, as their leader, writes the author of Guy Debord’s Cat.

I thought they wanted to win the next General Election, not lose it. Murphy will only drag the party further to the right.

Others would say he set up his soapbox and preached with a handful of hand-picked Labour supporters around him while the ‘Yes’ campaign had hundreds of people just down the road (in fact they have said this).
The proof of the pudding’s in the eating and we’ll see whether Murphy was the perfect choice on the day after next year’s general election. If he fails to turn Scottish Labour around, if he fails to make it represent the Scottish people again – instead of its own narrow interests, if he fails to keep the seats the SNP is threatening to take, then we’ll have our answer and he’ll have to go.

The Election prediction website predicted a complete wipe out of Labour in Scotland in 2015, so it does not matter who ran Scottish Labour.

Scottish Labour are finished because they campaigned to force a Tory government on Scotland, when the Tories cannot win and form a government in Holyrood.

The prediction is for 282 Tory seats and 280 Labour seats in England and Wales, which means the Tories will still rule by default in 2015.

Why would the most prolific voters, the over 60s bother voting in England and Wales anyway, being bashed by all parties to leave them with NIL STATE PENSION FOR LIFE for women born from 1953 and men born from 1951

Firstly, with five months until the election there is plenty of time for Scottish Labour to turn that trend around – especially if a few facts are allowed into people’s reckonings.
Scottish Labour did not campaign to “force a Tory government on Scotland”. Scottish Labour campaigned to keep Scotland in the United Kingdom. Those are two extremely different things which the SNP, for example, has gleefully confused in Scottish voters’ minds.
The thought that Labour would ever try to force a Conservative government on anyone is patently absurd.
Whyever would you even consider suggesting such a stupid idea? (And I’m not using the word ‘stupid’ lightly – you really have to be thick to think it’s true.)
If the Tories end up with 282 seats, then they will not have an overall majority, and Labour could form a government with support from, say, an SNP that has said it would do so.
As for your “most prolific voters” – isn’t it true that most of them think they are being well-treated by the Tories? It is only people who are not yet pensioners who have been robbed of their pension entitlements.

The views of Labour Party supporters are endlessly fascinating. They’re great.

Yes. In the Labour Party we’re allowed to have our own opinions, of course.
