Tory election win would ‘end local council services’ – Durham Times

Another Tory-led government would spell the end of local services as we know them, a Labour council leader has claimed.
Durham County Council chief Simon Henig issued the stark warning as his cabinet discussed making another £16.2m of cuts next year, taking the total imposed at the North-East’s biggest council between 2010 and 2018 to around £250m.
Around 2,000 jobs have been lost.

To be honest, I fear that this statement doesn’t just apply in Durham but around all councils in England! This Tory lot have been opportunistic all along, under the myth of austerity they have gradually attacked and chipped at local funding, driving down services and forcing councillors into lose-lose decisions which ultimately will leave an ideological wasteland of no functioning society. We cannot allow this to happen, this has to be a priority!
I fear austerity has to bite a lot harder before the working man, or woman gets off his backside. And waiting for Labour to act, they are not going to lead us anywhere.
Why do you have such a poor opinion of Labour?
When we have companies who take the tax purses monies and only interest is
to make monies with less people’s working for them then they take this money
offshore benefiting no one in Britain the tory way has always been about themselves
has they line their pockets with this privatisation of all unless you wake up to that fact
that we’d been lied to time and time again then better get use to that sign no vacancies
Selfishness, greed, corruption and total self interest is the Nasty Tory way. They are not interested in the majority of the population or our vital public services which we pay for.
Well that’s odd, because yesterday in the Indy Andreas Whittam Smith cited Durham as an example of a sensitive council with an understanding and tolerant electorate who understand why cuts have to happen. *headdesk*
The two things aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive. What this council leader has said is that cuts on the scale planned by the Tories would destroy public services.
