I would prefer someone with a lot more weight and parliamentary experience. It will be needed to be ready to pounce when the Tories start dropping clangers. But if she’s not “moderniser” then I suppose……..OK?

I can’t see anyone who wants to attract anything remotely UKIPish being ideal Labour leadership material, even if just the deputy. I don’t know anything about Ali, who may be a perfectly reasonable candidate, but people moved to UKIP for a reason and that would not be a principle backed by traditional Labour anyway.

We’re discussing people who were attracted to UKIP in the mistaken belief that it is a party of the people (when we know it is actually a right-wing party of bankers and financiers).
