Shocking Cabinet gender pay gap revealed – Guido Fawkes

Ultra-right-wing blog Guido Fawkes took a rare step towards criticising the government, with an article attacking the gender pay gap among Cabinet ministers.

“Following the government announcement today that they will force companies to disclose their gender pay gap,” writes Guido, “it seems only right to look at how David Cameron performs on the same metric.

“After carrying out an extensive gender pay audit, Guido can reveal that female members of the Cabinet are paid a shocking 8.4% less than their male counterparts. Men in the Cabinet are paid on average* £126,478 , while women on average* are paid just £116,693…”

Really? That seems a little low. While applauding Guido’s honesty in pointing out this sickening Tory misogynist discrimination, one wonders whether he has included all income claimed by these ministers.

*Calculation based on the mean average wage by gender for all who attend cabinet.

Please allow me to sink Guido’s ship:

Sell-off: The Treasury plans to sell three-quarters of its 79% stake in RBS over the course of this Parliament (Picture: Danny Lawson, PA)….to what fool exactly
Gideon Osborne, UK Chancellor, once again caught out in fudging Englands bankrupt Economy/ Seeing red over the return to taxpayer from RBS stake sale

    http://www.standard.co.uk/business/markets/nick-goodway-seeing-red-over-the-return-to-taxpayer-from-rbs-stake-sale-10387663.html

    And then we got this:

    Dumbfounded by Dunbar’s excuse

Is Zurich Insurance’s banking arm, Dunbar Assets, living in a parallel dimension?

The property lender’s latest set of accounts record how 99% of its loan book is now either impaired or past due. Yes, you read that right — 99%.

Even for a bank in run-off, the figure is extraordinary. But the reason offered by Dunbar is equally baffling. The poor financial results are due to “the continuing UK economic downturn”, Dunbar claimed in the 2014 accounts.

Is this the same UK that recorded GDP growth of 3% last year, and where the residential property market grew 8.5% and the commercial property sector 12%?

Naw, its the same liar we have had since 2010..Gideon Statistics…roll up, roll-up and buy one, if you are really, really stupid.

    And to cap it all:

So Gideon Osborne has ordered a review into official statistics after years of sniping from the Bank of England.

Spy wonders if it will examine the impact of 20% real-terms spending cuts since 2010 on the quality of the Office for National Statistics’ figures?

    Just curious.

Be afraid, be very afraid of what the Tory liars sell you, it ain’t Kosher.

Neither Cameron nor his government control what Cabinet members get paid. The rates are specified by independent bodies. The average pay is due to the jobs that the members hold. There are less senior minister posts among the female members, which will make their average lower. If you separate junior ministers from senior ministers you will find that the average pay male vs female is the same. Theresa May is a senior minister and Justine Greening is a junior minister (International Development). The article is misguided. Any criticism should be directed to the balance of junior vs senior post for women.

Do you think that justifies the pay inequality? You’re saying that far fewer women have senior cabinet positions.
Also, are you saying that, because Cameron doesn’t control Cabinet members’ pay, the gender gap is acceptable?
Nice to see a right-winger saying an article by the right-wing Guido Fawkes blog is misguided, though.
