For sale: Water cannon. Genuine reason for sale

The Evening Harold considers Theresa May’s announcement that Boris Johnson has wasted more than £300,000 on water cannons that he won’t be allowed to turn on the British public:

For sale, any reasonable offer considered.

Audi, BMW and Mercedes not quite cutting it at the golf club? Try out the Wasserwerfer 9000 and water the greens at the same time ‘Springwater durch technik’.

Due to circumstances beyond my control [!] offers are invited for three much-loved water cannon, unexpectedly surplus to requirements. Very low mileage. Finished in sparkling, completely unmarked Metropolitan Police livery.

Could be delivered in time for a Reggae-based August Bank Holiday street carnival.

Inherently dangerous so would suit minor dictator with political ambition, high-functioning sociopath or Alton Towers.

all I can do is laugh at that stupidity and arrogance, it not like he wouldn’t have known really what fatalities they have caused and why Germany was selling them, but the stupidity that he thought he could get away with using them here despite that knowledge.

It was the Met police that wanted them.

2.5. Furthermore, the Met has not made a convincing case that water cannon are an appropriate tactic for London. It has not convinced us that water cannon’s tactical limitations have been adequately addressed. As discussed with Sir Hugh Orde, water cannon have limitations that could be exacerbated in London:

“They are a complicated bit of equipment. They are big. They weigh tons. They do not move quickly and in fact, when they do move, they take a lot of stopping, rather like a fire engine. They weigh a lot, so it is not something that can whizz around any city. They would not whizz around London.”12

    It’s only our money!
Perhaps if he was made to repay out of his own money – but then accountability has never been a politicians strong point has it – and don’t expect any improvement when he returns to parliament, only the figures will increase!
