DWP reveals benefit claimant deaths (From Herald Scotland)

Last Updated: August 27, 2015By

The DWP’s death statistics are getting mainstream media publicity and it would be welcome if these reports get as much publicity as possible. Here’s one:

Nearly 10,000 people claiming benefits died in the space of a little over two years, after being declared fit for work, according to new figures.
The statistics on the death rates of people claiming benefits were published by the Department for Work and Pensions after a lengthy battle during which the Government resisted publishing the information.
In response to freedom of information requests from campaigner and blogger Mike Sivier, work and pensions minister Iain Duncan Smith finally ordered the release of the details.

Something else which should be given publicity are Duncan-Smith’s blatant lies which he told in order to try to wriggle and squirm his way out of releasing these horrendous figures.

Great! The Herald seems unafraid to publish your work Mike! Lets hope that there are more. The BBC and SKY will show bias towards the Tories I suspect.

I still think the still used by the Mirror the day after the budget should accompany this news! http://i4.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article6026460.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/Iain-Duncan-Smith.jpg

Very well done, Mike, keep up the heat!

IDS needs to go now and then the whole system totally overhauled to give people help and support and not a death sentence.

    Bravo!

Now we have the figures, what is going to be done? I am extremely anxious about all of this and it is bullying, let alone how many more will die.

I have a few ideas about that, and will be publishing an article on future moves soon.

BBC are tory poodles, despite all of their shouting and bawling about the Beeb being too left wing, utter nonsense, have always been right wing, most British broadcasters are bias and right wing minded, none of them will have the balls to publish the true figures, the likes of RT would, they covered and did reports on the Wall Street protests, none of the Western ones did, so much for democracy! Bravo to you always Mike and to the Herald Scotland for having the backbone to publish the real figures, doesn’t say much for the English press and England herself does it!

Actually back in the 70’s and 80’s the BBC was considered Liberal by most informed commentators. The Dimblebys, Robin Day, Ludovic Kennedy were all Pro Liberal ! So it would appear that the Beeb has swung towards the Right prior to the Blair Admin.
