Is any comment necessary?

A SEVERELY disabled young man who is unable to talk, read or write and needs round-the-clock care from his mother is the latest target in Iain Duncan Smith’s campaign against Scotland’s most vulnerable.

Stuart Chester, who has Down’s syndrome, epilepsy and autism and is unable to feed or wash himself, is being told by officers in the Tory minister’s Department for Work and Pensions to prove he is unfit for work.

The 25-year-old has been sent a controversial 20-page work capability assessment form to fill in that will investigate his fitness for work and whether he deserves his Disability Living Allowance (DLA# and Employment and Support Allowance #ESA) benefits.

The inhumanity of these people makes one utterly sick and disgusted.

Warren will be ‘invited’ to claim PIP when he’s 16, in October. A DWP visitor came to check that he really can’t fill in forms himself. Her embarrasment when I ‘invited’ her to ask him herself was huge. I believe he will have to do the WCA thing at some stage too, but not sure if that’s after he leaves school at 18-ish?

This is very sad and very stressful for the family. The carer will have to fill it in with as much detail as possible and try to get as much support from local and national groups. There will have been medical records and it is damned stupid that these are being ignored.
This shouldn’t be happening. Sadly, we have to fight back and help each other in every way we can.
    Good luck to them.

It occurs to me that the DWP et al are in the business of trying to exhaust their vulnerable targets with persistent harassment, in the hope they will eventually cave in and give up, or worse. If this is a war of attrition, we must never become despondent despite the odds.

Having spent more than two years fighting for a simple answer to a simple question, I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I’m not despondent at all, but then, I won.

When the UN investigator comes to the UK Stuart Chester’s plight will be one example that demonstrably identifies IDS and DWP policy as inhumane and unnaturally discriminates against disabled people, the most vulnerable in our society.

Some times the irony of these medical situations was that in some cases it was Government vaccines and medications that caused some of these long termdisablement situations. The Government also allowed immunity from compensation claims from the Pharma vaccine manufacturers. The MMR vaccines, when one catches up with the real truth, it was noted that it was again the Government and Press versions that were the lies. The NHS purchased crap vaccine batches on the cheap (as they did with the contaminated USA blood supplies). In the MMR debacle a Dr. Wakefield was “taken out” by the establshment lies and propoganda and many years later it turns out it was the establishment/Government/NHS that conspired to cover up their untested vaccine purchases…….and of course nothing about this turnabout hits the headlines.

Wakefield was basically a liar. Your antivaccine diatribe needs one answer – smallpox.

This is beyond contempt and reaches all time lows for the Tories. How can we call this a civilised society when such disgustingly abhorrent acts are occurring on a daily basis??

A great example of what happens when a dishonest and useless politician/bureaucrat decides to ignore medical expertise and give clerical officers the job of assessing physical and/or mental fitness.

If anyone is insane it is the government. What work do they think this young man could do and what employer in the land would employ him?

There is no need for further hyperbole. We all know claimants can get someone to fill their forms in……….

You do understand the point that’s being made here, I hope.

I’m going to FED tomorrow to fill out one of those interminable damn forms. I have 2 degrees and more O and A levels than I can remember and a treble Nursing qualification AND I have a bloody hard time filling the damned forms out. Depressing as hell to iterate all my losses and disabilities.

Just a question… how would DWP know this information if his family doesn’t complete the form? I’m guessing it would be far too optimistic to assume they use DLA records, given how dysfunctional they are as an organisation!!

    • Mike Sivier August 31, 2015 at 11:11 pm - Reply

It’s a reassessment; the DWP already knows he can’t fill in the form himself and isn’t going to get any better.

Wow, just when you thought these sick, evil b*****ds couldn’t shock you any more with their antics, they pull this one. How twisted and cruel could you be, they must truly get off on this, it must turn them on, getting some vile pleasure out of doing this, the poor lad who couldn’t be more genuine, is getting treated this way, why hasn’t this been front page news, of course we know why that is, why didn’t the likes of the Last Leg say anything about this?
