Tories To Scrap Human Rights Act By Next Summer

Last Updated: October 18, 2015By

The Government is planning to fast-track a British Bill of Rights, aiming to get the extremely controversial legislation on the statute books by next summer.

A Bill of Rights was a Conservative manifesto pledge, but is strongly opposed by civil liberties groups that say it will restrict freedoms that are guaranteed under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

The Independent reports that a 12-week public consultation on the Conservative Bill of Rights will start in November or December this year. It will be worded to clarify that the UK will not pull out of the European Convention of Human Rights, as some critics have feared, (and actually, as David Cameron has pledged previously) it will even mirror much of the ECHR language in an effort to “calm opposition.”

The Conservative Bill of Rights will go straight to the House of Commons without a Green or White Paper, which are usually introduced before legislative scrutiny.

Liberal Democrat leader, Tim Farron MP, said not allowing proper scrutiny of the Bill “makes a mockery of parliament”.

Mr Farron’s concerns have been echoed by the leading human rights barrister Geoffrey Robertson QC, who described the Government’s intention as an “outrage”.

Why the apathy from electorates and the opposition party? Been in the new for at least two years…

Apathy from the Opposition Party? Corbyn raised the issue in the Commons only yesterday.

If one wanted to commit a felony I guess one would want to get rid of any way it could be discovered and prosecuted.

Perhaps the pig porker has finally read up on how the ECHR was not foisted on the UK by a bunch of Suspicious Foreigners, to echo the late Col. Sibthorpe? The Convention was actually presented by the UK for ratification when we held the Presidency of the Council of Europe.

(Colonel Sibthorpe was an ultra-Tory nutter of the second quarter of the C19th – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Sibthorp)

The new British Bill of Rights will really be the Tory Agenda for Britain, i.e. ruin the country and screw the people for everything we’ve got even more, bring back the work and poor houses, take all of our rights away, take all the money away from the working class and give them food stamps that the Yanks use for their poor, you can only have so much to your name and so many kids or you’ll get penalised, basically, you will have nothing and the nation will have nothing, everything else that hasn’t yet been flogged off will be and we will all be the poorer and the more vulnerable than we’ve ever been before!
