Brutal Government cuts forcing disabled people to sleep in wheelchairs and wait 14 hours to use toilet

Disabled people are having to sleep in their wheelchairs and wait 14 hours to use the toilet due to savage cuts to social care, a report warns.

Council social care budgets have been slashed by almost £5billion since 2010.

Now the most vulnerable in society are suffering the “horrific consequences” of the Tory cuts, according to charity Scope.

It said disabled people were now being forced to sleep fully-clothed in their wheelchairs because no one is visiting their home to help them into bed.

Shockingly, some have to wait 14 hours to go to the toilet while others are left unable to eat.

This is true and is fact I have personally seen evidence of it and have been ashamed of our society for quite awhile now. My problem is that I wonder just how long we as human beings will allow such events to continue. I fear that it will take too many catastrophes and inhuman behaviour before enough are galvanised into action… perhaps then it may be too late.

Ian725, I agree 100% with you. I have been ashamed to call myself British for quite a while now and the BBC especially mentioning very little if anything of the suffering of the sick and disabled is sickening. With the Government propaganda against the sick and disabled, most of society feel they are scroungers. I have had a number of arguments with others who only believe the propaganda. I find it utterly incredible that the reporters on the BBC and some news papers only report selectively. I get so angry with them, I don’t know how they sleep at night.
If they only did some homework they might find the truth and report the truth. Instead they are happy to follow the Conservatives like sheep and not have a backbone.
I thank Mike very much for his blog and all his hard work regarding the FOI work. Hopefully there will be good news from the UN and they will officially complain about Cameron, Smith and Osborne to start with. Maybe heads could roll, one never knows.

This story was in the i paper yesterday, which was a step in the right direction, though it should have been more prominent. I totally agree with Ian’s and Helen’s comments. We should be seeing all these inhuman stories on the news every night, instead of the propaganda we are fed instead.
