Deaths caused by the DWP: Will this be the fourth CONFIRMED case?

A Vox Political commenter is currently awaiting confirmation from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman that her brother’s suicide was due to DWP benefit cuts.

Linda Cooksey wrote: “My brother Tim Salter committed suicide on 25th September 2013.

“The coroner’s report stated, ‘Mr Salter … had hanged himself. He had problems with his mental health and was partially sighted.

“‘A major factor in his death was that his state benefits had been greatly reduced leaving him almost destitute and with threatened repossession of his home’. [Bolding mine]

“Tim had just over £50 in money and no food in the house when I found him on that Wednesday lunchtime!”

The DWP’s current mealy-mouthed excuse for these deaths is as follows: “Suicide is a tragic and complex issue and there are often many reasons why someone takes their life, so to link it to one event is misleading.”

Do you believe that? Should anyone?

Right-thinking people must judge this government department’s behaviour on the evidence available. It seems clear that the removal of benefits from a person who quite clearly deserved them – according to Her Majesty’s Coroner – was the most significant element leading to his death.

This could be the fourth confirmed case of DWP ill-treatment leading to the death of a benefit claimant.

One was too many.

When are we going to see justice?

When are the press going to clean about these tragic deaths, and reveal to the nation what is really going on or are they being suppressed by this evil government.

How true one to many, what has this poor individual gone through,

My condolences to the family so very very sad.

Now it seems that people think it is the norm, IDS should of been jailed by now, He has killed more people than Fred West, and Harold Shipman conbined and is still walking round like nothing has happened. When will this tosser get arrested for crimes against humanity?

And IDS and Co will still receive their gold plated pensions regardless of the damage they have caused to this “Once” great nation.

      That is not the plan.

I was about to say exactly what Mr Angry said. The media has been, and is, strangely silent. Dictatorships and despots always have the control of the media. Our Prime Mincer has just been on TV with his stern face saying they have got the barbaric murderer Jihadi John. You have more to fear from this so called government than ISIS.

How pleasent it would be to have a minister in charge of the DWP who was caring and helpful!

Indeed, thinking about it, when was the last time we could say that?

Any decent person would suffer from the guilt that this statement clearly states.

    Why people die by suicide:

Mental illness, depression, feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, poor job security, or being unemployed, being in debt, being homeless, being disabled, etc., are some of the reasons people die by suicide. All of these fears have been exacerbated over the past five years due to this government’s incessant genocidal tendencies.

    STRESS TESTS

The DWP aren’t happy at all with a new study claiming that almost 600 “additional” suicides could be related to the Government’s Work Capability Assessments.

A study in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health claims the areas of England with the greatest use of the assessments has also seen the sharpest rise in reported suicides, mental health issues, and antidepressant prescribing. The report says the assessments may be having “serious adverse consequences for mental health” and even suggested doctors involved in the process could face “ethical issues” in continuing with the tests.

The Department for Work and Pensions described the report as “wholly misleading” and pointed out even the authors recognised no conclusions can be drawn about the assessments and the suicide rates. But watch the Government’s critics seize on it as the first scientific assessment of the impact of the policy.

      LOL!
That DWP response is more or less exactly what I suggested it would be in my own article on the subject. Haven’t you seen it yet?
