This will make you laugh – bitterly: Nick Clegg attacks ‘self-indulgent’ Labour

Lest we forget: Tom Pride reminds us why the Liberal Democrats are so unpopular at the polls.

You’ll laugh so hard you may cry.

Nick Clegg, the man who singularly failed to hold the Conservatives to account while he was deputy prime minister in David Cameron’s Coalition Government, has accused Labour of – you guessed it – failing to hold the Conservatives to account.

This is the man who presided over the loss of all but eight of his party’s seats; vengeance from the voters for the five years of hell into which he plunged the United Kingdom when he agreed to go into coalition with the Conservatives in March – yes, March – 2010.

The electorate punished the Liberal Democrats for their weakness in failing to prevent the Conservatives from implementing – for example – the genocidal benefit policy that has caused the deaths of more sick and disabled people than the Department for Work and Pensions is ever going to be willing to admit, for fear of prosecution and punishment.

Clegg himself only kept his own seat, it is believed, because Tory voters went to the aid of the man they believed to have been David Cameron’s Great Collaborator.

And he’s got the nerve to criticise a Labour Party that has forced U-turn after U-turn out of our pathetic, vindictive, failure of a Conservative Government?

Call me a doctor; my sides are splitting.

Oh, but wait.

Clegg let the Tories privatise much of the health service, didn’t he?

[Nick Clegg, former leader of the Liberal Democrats and deputy prime minister in David Cameron’s Conservative-led Coalition Government] gave a damning assessment of the Labour party under Jeremy Corbyn.

“I have never seen a major political party embark on quite such a spectacular bout of self-indulgence.

“And it is self-indulgent; it is self-absorbed because the only effect of what the Labour party is doing is it will entrench Conservative policies.

“That is what I find so extraordinary about the Labour party, is it is turning itself from a political party into a sort of debating society. I want them to do what opposition parties should do, which is hold the powerful to account.”

Case of pot calling the kettle black, if you understand the old proverb. He espouses his triumphs in stopping the Tories in the Coalition from being super nasty like they are now. What he actually achieved is minimal when he actually HAD THE POWER TO DO MORE!! To criticise the LABOUR party for not holding Cameron to account when they have NO POWER to do so is an idiotic comment to make.
