Remember all the recent outrage about the UK’s association with Saudi Arabia?

How we helped the Saudis get onto the UN’s human rights panel?

How we accept their death penalty, even after it was used nearly 50 times in a single day?

How our arms manufacturers are making a fortune selling weapons to the Saudis, so they can continue killing civilians in Yemen?

It seems your Conservative Government has conveniently forgotten.

Would you like to write in and remind ministers that this is not appropriate behaviour for a civilised country?

And please note – when I mention a “civilised country”, I don’t mean Saudi Arabia – I mean the UK.

British arms companies have cashed-in on Saudi Arabia’s military campaign in Yemen by ramping up arms sales to the country’s autocratic government by over a hundred times, new figures show.

Sales of British bombs and missiles to the Saudi Arabia surged to over £1bn just three months last year, according to an official record of arms export licences quietly released by the Government this week.

The sales, up from just £9m in the preceding three-month period, have occurred while the oil-rich autocracy conducts a military campaign in its neighbour’s territory, where the United Nations has said a “humanitarian catastrophe” is unfolding.

The civil war in Yemen is one of the most savage in modern history, and it has become substantially *worse* since the Saudi-led coalition intervened last March – purely for sectarian, anti-Shi’a reasons. The coalition’s new standard tactic for restoring order is to blow up hospitals.

I wrote to my Tory MP regarding the sale of weapons and our responsibility to the UN charter and I wrote to him again condemning the Saudi State visit and again when Cameron received an illegal honour from the Saudis. Water off a ducks back, pigs who wallow in s**t don’t smell it you know.
