Cancer drugs fund being mismanaged, MPs say

David Cameron: A useless bag of wind.

David Cameron: A useless bag of wind.

This is the fund to which David Cameron referred during Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday.

He mentioned it as a prime example of where the English NHS was succeeding whereas the Welsh NHS – which doesn’t have a cancer drugs fund – was failing.

Now it turns out we don’t know if this wonderful innovation is even providing good value for money.

David Cameron – what a useless sack of wind. Who elected him? Can they please explain why they did?

The Government still has no way of being sure how effective a major fund has been in extending the lives of cancer patients, making it impossible to know if it is providing value for money, MPs have said.

In a highly critical report, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said the Department of Health and NHS England had failed to manage the Cancer Drugs Fund effectively since its launch in 2010.

The fund was designed to give patients access to expensive new cancer drugs and drugs for rare cancers not available on the NHS.

I hadn’t realised at first, so I watched it back. I thought it was really funny seeing Cameron get a bit ‘confused’ over the ‘radiographers’. Was obviously having trouble keeping his eyes on the right notes.

It is obviously failing since several patients have not been able to access drugs for rare cancers, one of whom was a little girl. Crowdfunding was the only way until pressure was brought to bear for her to receive the drugs that would save her. There have been others on facebook and in the media, so it was stupid of Cameron to even mention the scheme and hailing it a success

doubt whether there will be any tory voter who will admit they voted in this way. shame and fear of reprisals are real reasons. Lets hope they learned tories are users and liars and dont make the same choice of idiocy next time they vote.
